🌽🐾 Happy ! We have a story full of corn-sequences!😉🐾🌽

Meet Faith — a sweet, happy-go-lucky Labrador mix who recently gave her family quite a scare. Last week, Faith decided a corn cob looked ear-resistible. 🍴 Unfortunately, corn cobs don’t break down in the stomach and can cause dangerous blockages in a dog’s digestive tract. Left untreated, these blockages can lead to severe illness and even be life-threatening.

Not long after her snack, poor Faith began vomiting and couldn’t keep any food down. Her family brought her to us right away, and after X-rays and monitoring, it became clear that the corn cob wasn’t moving along. Faith underwent foreign body surgery to safely remove it, and thanks to quick action, she’s now back to her happy, tail-wagging self! 💛

✨Late summer and fall = corn on the cob season 🌽 … and corn cobs are everywhere — at picnics, cookouts, trash cans, and compost piles. Dogs may love the smell (and the leftover butter), but even a small piece of cob can get stuck in the stomach or intestines, blocking the passage of food and water.

Always dispose of corn cobs securely and keep them out of reach of curious pets. If your dog eats one, don’t wait for symptoms — call your vet immediately. Early intervention can mean the difference between simple monitoring and major surgery.

If you ever need us — whether for tense situations like Faith’s or just routine care — give us a call at 717-246-3611. We’re all ears!🌽🐶💖

🚨LOST PET ALERT🚨
A mysterious creature has appeared at PVH… 💅💗

This fabulous fugitive has been captured in our parking lot. She was found alone, unaccompanied, and is now giving major sass from inside one of our kennels. Despite her size, please heed the warning on her enclosure:
⚠️ Caution — Will Bite (but only if provoked or denied snacks).

She’s been patiently (and dramatically) awaiting her human’s return. If your child is missing their beloved pink alien BFF, she is safe and sound—though slightly offended no one has come for her yet. 😤

Help us get her back home where she belongs! 💕

🎉 Happy !!! 🎉

What’s small, squeaky, and does NOT belong inside your dog?
This. Thing. 👇

Meet the latest troublemaker removed from a curious canine—a squeaker from a beloved toy. While it may not look all that threatening on its own, these tiny objects can cause BIG problems once swallowed. 😬

Dogs explore the world with their mouths, and sometimes, that curiosity gets the best of them. Plush toys, socks, corn cobs, rocks, string, floss, pacifiers—you name it, we’ve probably seen it in an x-ray (or pulled it out in surgery). 🐾🩻

So what are the warning signs your pup might have swallowed something they shouldn’t?

🔹 Vomiting
🔹 Loss of appetite
🔹 Lethargy
🔹 Painful abdomen
🔹 Straining to p**p or changes in bathroom habits
🔹 Acting “off” or not themselves

Sometimes, symptoms show up quickly. Other times, the object lurks in the GI tract, slowly causing damage or obstruction. That’s why it’s so important to act fast if something feels off. Waiting “just one more day” can make all the difference in recovery—and risk.

Foreign body cases like this one remind us:
You know your pet best. Trust your gut.
If you think something’s wrong, don’t hesitate to call us at 717-246-3611. We’re here to help—squeakers and all. 💛🐶
