"Tell Every Referral"
In the 14 years I have been grooming, I have worked very hard never to let politics get involved. From the moment I started this, I swore it would be built around the dogs. I never expected for my craft to take off like it did. I never expected to come back when I stepped away from grooming, and I never expected the support from both old and new clients when I did come back to grooming to be so overwhelming.
I most certainly never expected my parental obligations and my maternal instincts to come roaring to the forefront. But here I am, hanging on by my fingernails, and taking the body blows as they come.
The problem is, I took your matting emergency last week and found you a spot to hopefully pull off another magic trick for you. You stood me up. This was after the last time I took your dogs, only to be berated for an hour about how far left you are and why, then told you would never allow my unvaxxed children around your grandchildren, and concluded with, you had to stop discussing topics with me because you wanted me to groom your dogs. We agreed to disagree and moved on. I asked again if you would prefer I masked during our contact or while I groomed your dogs, you again said no.
Last week, I responded to your 911 text and did the best I could to quickly accomodate you and if anything popped sooner the previous day I would call. My 'out of town meeting' went longer that day (aka: a topic we agreed not to discuss) I moved onto the next pressing matter I could/needed to handle, with the assumption I would see you the next day at the alotted time we discussed. You didn't show up.
Unfortunately, I pick my battles best I can, and most days I just come up short. In your case, I tried harder than I should have and swallowed more crow than I should have, but I liked your dogs (sass and all).
When I recieved your text in the middle of a meeting, I didn't care how late it was when I got out, I was calling you first.
Admittedly, I didn't leave the door open that wide for you, but I highly doubt you would have walked through the door if I'd opened it enough to shove you through.
You're absolutely right, my "selfish, unvaccinated ass" should definitely not be grooming your dogs. It's overextending myself that lead me to this mess in the first place. I appreciate your critique on my most constant complaint and it is unfortunate you will no longer be able to share your innate wisdom with someone like me.
Furthermore, you have done your community a great service by getting me to officially log my vaccination status for public viewing. I felt it was only fair I assist you in kind. Since I knew how much you wanted to share your thoughts in my regard, I've attached them to this post, to oblige you one last time.
Live long and prosper friend.
