🍾🍾🍾Rise and Dine, friends. 🍾🍾🍾
You may notice I share, attend and support a lot of Empower Tehama events. This cause is so special to me not only as a Domestic Violence Survivor, but also as a bonus/extra/surrogate mom/auntie/adult to four very special boys that I help raise.
Not only does Empower support DV survivors, they also support underprivileged children in our community who don’t have access to things like summer camp.
Something people don’t like to talk about? Empower Tehama also offers support, counseling and services for Abusers. It’s not talked about enough that in counseling and supporting Abusers, you can PREVENT violence before it happens rather than treating it after the fact.
Empower Tehama offers such a valuable service in our community for a balanced system of, plainly-helping. From all sides.
Fun fact? Before I opened Auntie Em’s, I was slated to start working for them part time since I was only at my location previously for 2 days a week. It was less about needing a part time job and more about wanting to help. When I got the sudden news that I needed to open my own shop I had to tell them I couldn’t proceed anymore in the hiring process, which crushed me. I searched tirelessly for the location of my new shop- facing so much pushback over the nature of my business, concerns about sound/damage from pets. I finally found a building owner that believed in me and what I was trying to do. And I ended up in the same building where R**e Crisis Prevention began in Red Bluff. There were business cards and flyers still taped on the window. He believed in me the same way he believed in supporting this cause. That regular people in our community can make a difference.
If you didn’t know, R**e Crisis Prevention was the original Empower. They grew, expanded and added so many services that they now have three separate locations in Red Bluff and one in Corning. Although I didn’t get to work for them, I’m able to keep that special piece in my heart that I’m helping in the mission. Not just by going to events and supporting, but my also taking over the location to rent from a local human that also supported their mission.
This. Is. Red. Bluff.
