Tipping Etiquette: What You Need to Know

As we approach the holiday season, we wanted to share a little reminder about tipping etiquette in the grooming world! ✂️🐾

Tipping is never required, but always appreciated—especially for the hard work our groomers put into making your pups look and feel their best. A standard tip in our industry is usually 15–20% of your grooming bill.
You may want to consider tipping if:

- You have a larger dog 🐕
- Your dog struggles with being groomed 💕
- Your dog has a double coat or curly coat ✨
- Your appointment is scheduled during the busy holiday season 🎄
- Or, simply, you’re really happy with the result!

Every tip goes directly to our groomers as a thank-you for their time, care, and dedication. We are so grateful for the support you give our team—not just during the holidays, but year-round! ❤️

Don’t Let You and Your Pets “Fall” into Fall!

Fall is officially here! That means cooler weather, cozy sweaters, festive decorations, and of course… all the pumpkin-flavored treats 😉. While you’re busy getting ready for the season, don’t forget your pets need a little prep too!🍁

Fall can bring a few extra hazards for our furry friends:
•Increased fleas & ticks – Fall typically means an increased amount of fleas and ticks. Make sure you're checking your pet regularly and taking preventative measures.
•Fall allergens – Ragweed pollen, mold spores, and dust mites are common allergies we see in dogs during the fall. If your pup is sensitive, plan ahead with medications and regular baths (at home or here at the Pit Stop!) to prevent skin issues.
•Cooler temperatures – As the leaves drop, so does the temperature! If your dog doesn’t do well in the cold, make sure they’re prepared for the chilly season ahead.
•Potentially dangerous decorations – Many fall decorations may look like toys to your pup and can pose a choking hazard. Keep décor out of reach!
•Lots of tempting (but unsafe) human food – Between football tailgates and Halloween, there will be lots of treats around. Keep all tasty snacks far from your dog’s reach.
Make sure you’re keeping both your home and pets safe while you enjoy everything this cozy fall season has to offer! 🐾✨

🐾 September 20th - Happy National Responsible Dog Ownership Day! 🐾
Celebrated every third Saturday in September, National Responsible Dog Ownership Day is all about celebrating and educating on what it means to be a great dog owner. Some examples include making sure your dog’s breed is a good fit for your lifestyle, doing research before bringing a pup home, keeping up with grooming, providing plenty of exercise, maintaining a healthy diet and weight, scheduling regular vet visits, keeping them leashed in public, and so much more.

We are so thankful for our amazing clients who work hard every day to give their pups the best life possible. 💕 Today is a reminder to celebrate your bond with your dog—and also to continue being responsible so they stay happy, healthy, and thriving for years to come! 🐶✨

🌟 AKC Parent Group Spotlight: Non-Sporting Group! 🌟

The Non-Sporting Group is one of the most unique AKC parent groups, bringing together a wide variety of breeds that don’t quite fit anywhere else. These dogs either have a very unusual “job description” or so many roles that they can’t be confined to just one category.

Take the Poodle, for example—originally bred as a retriever, they were also prized as truffle hunters and even circus performers! Or the Bichon Frisé, bred purely for entertainment and companionship, but just a little too big to be considered a Toy breed. And, of course, the Dalmatian, typically used as carriage dogs to protect the horses and passengers, later became a famous fire station mascot, with their loud barking acting as a substitute for sirens. Whatever their definition of work may be, the dogs in the Non-Sporting group have fascinating and rich histories!
