I’m doing a soft opening because surgery is taking forever and I feel much better after two months of rest. I’ve created a tub that goes up and down which saves my back and I’m using a different table that helps me so I can do two small dogs a dayand I can’t wait to see you guys. 📢 Health & Business Update

Hi everyone 💙
I wanted to share a quick update so you know where things stand.

I have nerve testing and muscle testing scheduled for the 5th and the 10th. After those results are in, surgery planning will begin. At this point, my doctors have confirmed that my spine is unstable in four places, which is why I’m currently unable to work.

I’ll continue to post updates as I’m able, and you can always find the most current information here:
• Auntie Heather’s Hair of the Dog Grooming on Facebook
• Heather Robinson Hatfield on Facebook
www.auntieheathersdoggrooming.com

I truly appreciate everyone’s patience, kindness, and support during this time. I love your dogs very much and hope to be back doing what I love once my spine is repaired. 🐾💙

🌿 Update on Auntie Heather with Auntie Heather’s Hair of the Dog Grooming & Schedule

I want to take a moment to share a clear update so everyone hears the same information directly from me.

Over the past year, I’ve been dealing with progressive spine issues involving both my lower back and neck. After extensive imaging and specialist evaluations, it’s now clear that I’m dealing with structural spinal problems, including instability and nerve compression, not just routine wear-and-tear or muscle strain.

At this point, I’m under active medical care and surgical treatment is very likely in the near future, beginning with my lower back and followed by my neck once it’s safe to do so. These procedures are intended to stabilize my spine, relieve nerve pressure, and allow me the best chance at long-term function and quality of life.

What this means right now
• I am not currently grooming dogs
• I am focusing on medical care and preparing for treatment
• My schedule will remain limited and unpredictable for the foreseeable future

What this means going forward
• Grooming will return gradually, not all at once
• When I do resume, it will likely be:
• fewer dogs per day
• shorter appointments
• modified services
• Full recovery will take time, and I’ll be prioritizing safe, sustainable work so I can continue grooming long-term rather than risking reinjury

I truly love what I do and value every client who has trusted me with their pets. This pause and reset is about making sure I can come back healthy, stable, and able to continue doing the work I care about — not just for a few months, but for years.

Thank you for your patience, kindness, and support during this transition. I will continue to share updates as things become clearer.

💙 Heather

While I am temporarily closed for surgery and recovery, I’m happy to share that Heavenly Pets has graciously agreed to help take care of my clients during this time.

Heavenly Pets is owned and operated by Sky, who has 34 years of grooming experience. They are also connected with Raytown Gregory Animal Clinic, which makes them an excellent option for our senior pets or dogs who need extra care and attention.

Auntie Heather here with Auntie Heather’s Hair of the Dog Grooming. I wanted to let you know that I’ve come to the very difficult decision that I need to temporarily stop working so I can properly heal.

I was truly hopeful that I could make it through until surgery and really believed I was starting to feel better, but unfortunately the relief I had has completely worn off and I’m in a lot more pain than I anticipated. I even came back to work early after my wrist surgery because I genuinely wanted to be here for my clients and their dogs, but my body just isn’t cooperating, and continuing right now isn’t safe for me.

This was not an easy decision, and I wish so badly that this wasn’t the case. I feel awful about the timing and I’m so very sorry to do this. Please know how much I love your dogs and how deeply I appreciate every single one of you. Your kindness, patience, and support truly mean more to me than I can put into words.

Thank you so much for understanding while I take the time I need to heal. I truly hope to be back as soon as my body allows.

After today’s experience, we realize that we need more kennels for the basement. We had 10 dogs and four cats in the basement and had to take down kennels as well today so if anyone has any kennels that they can donate, we sure would appreciate it! Everybody’s animals were safe today, but it was not an easy task… Really could use some more kennels thank you
