The Animal Control Division of the Raymore Police Department consists of two full-time Animal Control Officers (ACO). Duties of the ACOs include:

Pick-up and storage of loose, stray and dangerous animals
Enforcement of Raymore city ordinances regarding animals
Maintenance of animals housed at animal control facilities
Investigation of animal bite calls
Investigation of animal abuse / neglect

Direct contact with local veterinary offices regarding animal health concerns

We appreciate generous donations that keep our shelter clean and keep the animals we care for fed and comfortable. Donations may be dropped off at the shelter, but as ACOs are frequently out on calls, you may leave donations in the donation box by the front door or drop off donations at the Raymore Police Department at Raymore City Hall (south entrance) at 100 Municipal Circle. Monetary donations are tax-deductible through the Raymore Community Foundation and can be made online at https://bit.ly/raymoreAC. You can specify General, Feral Cat Sponsorship or Animal Medical Expenses in the "Reason for Donation" box to direct your donation to a specific fund! Never a dull moment in animal control! This pigeon found it's way into a residents garage in the area of Madison Creek Dr & Ridge Crest Dr. It is banded, and we contacted the individual that the band was registered to, but he was unable to provide us with records for a potential owner.

This duo wondered a bit too far off their property and were located in the area of Creek View Ln & Cold Water Ln just off of Ward Road. One was wearing a tan collar and the other was wearing a green collar. They do not seem to be chipped.

‼️MISSING DOG-DO NOT APPROACH OR CHASE‼️

This is Sadie. She is a medium sized, long-haired female with a red collar. She escaped yesterday out of her fence in Foxhaven near Shelby Dr and Huntsman. She is very scared and will bolt if you try to approach. She was last seen near Lucy Webb and Huntsman and has been frequenting the Old Paint Rd area.

If you see her, please call Raymore PD dispatch 816-331-0530 to give them the location and her direction of travel. If we can narrow down where she's hanging out, we may be able to safely trap her.

Meet Cindy Clawford (we're pretty proud of that one.) She is ready for a barn/shop cat to call home. She would much rather enjoy the great outdoors than be in a kennel here at the shelter. Barn cats are FREE and come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV/FeLV and microchipped! She is ready to go today!! Call us at 816-892-3053 if you are interested. We have been working with KC Dog Trappers since yesterday to help get this dog to safety. He's being friendly with us, he's just very scared and would love to get back home. He was located in the area of W Foxwood Drive & N Madison Street and residents reported he has been there for multiple weeks. He is not wearing a collar and is not chipped.

Our dog kennels are full and until we find adopters or fosters, we can't house any more pups that need our help!! PLEASE help us by adopting one of these handsome gentlemen or help by spreading the word!

Biggie-100% Good Boy. Loves to play with other dogs, doesn't like getting beat up by cats, Thinks he's a lap dog and you can't tell him otherwise.

Jack-You may remember him as Dobby. Unfortunately, his previous home didn't work out and he's ready to find a new one! Jack has played with dogs before but should meet them first, unsure about cats, lived with kids. Greatest underbite you'll ever see. Jack's adoption fee is sponsored!

Fox- Can't decide on a breed? That's ok. Fox is probably all of them. This guy is a Heinz 57 and we'd love to see a DNA test. He has played with other dogs here at the shelter, unsure about cats. Need a toy destuffed? He's your man!

Picasso-Our longest term resident at a growing FIVE months long. Sweetest and smartest boy who just wants a home of his own with no other animals. He knows sit, down and shake and don't forget that darn squawking chicken toy...that's part of the deal.

🐰Easter may be over, but the bunnies are still here!🐰

It's that time of year and we have already begun getting calls about baby bunnies in nests. The majority of the time, the best thing for you to do is leave them alone. Just because you don't see mom doesn't mean she isn't taking care of them. Rabbits typically come around dawn and dusk to care for their kits and it can be for as little as 4 minutes at a time!
Here are some tips for if you find a nest:
🥕Before you start mowing this season, check for nests!
🥕If you are concerned about them being orphaned, you can sprinkle a layer of flour or other unscented powder around the nest and check at dawn and dusk to see if mom has visited.
🥕If you are worried about your pets getting to them, place a lawn mower with a raised deck (not running, of course) over the nest area to create a barrier but also allow mom to come and go.
🥕Human scent is NOT a death sentence. Your scent is already all over the yard and mom will not feel threatened.
🥕Relocating a nest more than 3-4 inches can be bad news because mom won't go looking for them.
🥕If you see baby bunnies with obvious injuries or have confirmed mom is not coming back, contact one of our amazing local wildlife rehabs or wildlife rescues!
🥕At just two to three weeks old, kits will leave the nest and move along!

🐩Meet Noodle the Poodle! 🐩

Noodle is an adult Poodle Mix who is ready for a new home! We don't have much information on him but we know he loves people and is a little ball of goofy energy. He has been in foster with kids and did well with them. We are unsure about history with cats or dogs. He will need some basic obedience training and routine grooming. Noodle will need to meet all humans and dogs he may live with. His adoption fee is $200 which will include his neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test and microchip. ❗️CRITICAL-PLEASE READ❗️
It was over four months ago (131 days to be exact) when this boy was rescued off a dark and busy road. The first photo was taken the day after he arrived. He was skin and bones and covered in paint. His face tells a story of worry and defeat. Four months later, his faith in people is starting to be restored but now Picasso wonders if he will ever find a home. The second photo shows the progress he's made and his personality that's blossoming. He's gained a smile, new friends, new tricks and some weight, too. He loves those he's grown close to as we've helped him trust again but he doesn't receive the one on one attention he desperately needs. Can you help Picasso? Maybe you can provide him a forever home? Maybe you can foster him and give him a break from concrete walls and loud surroundings? If nothing else, maybe you can help spread the word that Picasso needs someone to love him forever so he doesn't think he's been given up on again. PICASSO-Our longest term resident at 130 days! He is SO smart and has so much love to give. He would do best in a quiet home with no other animals and teenage or older children. Would make a GREAT travel buddy for someone needing a sidekick! His adoption fee has been SPONSORED!

JAX-Our available barn cat! He'd much rather be outside hunting mice than stuck in our shelter. If you need a barn or shop companion, he's your guy! His adoption fee is WAIVED!

Fox-Not quite sure what kind or color of dog you want?? Well, we have the Supermutt for you! He's a young, medium sized All-American Shelter Dog with every color pattern you can imagine. He loves treats and squeaky toys and exploring our play yard. He came in as a stray and we are unsure how he does with other animals or children. It would be best if he met everyone in the home first. His adoption fee is $200 which covers his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test and microchip.

Biggie-We cannot brag about this guy enough. He is a 2 year old pup still learning how to "dog". He's goofy and sweet and sometimes thinks he's a lap dog. He likes other dogs who love to play. Although he was interested in Angel our office cat, she made it very clear she wasn't a fan and he steered clear the rest of the day. He still has some puppy energy and may do best with older kiddos while he learns some manners. His adoption fee is $200 which covers his vet costs.

The second was Sven the baby blue racer! He was retrieved out of a washing machine about two weeks ago. He had an abrasion to his belly that we were concerned about, so he went to lakeside! Thankfully it was just a gnarly bruise and he was able to be released as well!

Our first was a little screech owl. He came to us via a public works employee that happened across him laying in the road. He was bleeding from his nose and had a broken leg. Approximately 2 months at Lakeside and he was good to go!
