We would like to extend our thoughts to our partners at HELP Humane Society following a recent structure fire at their facility. HELP Humane has played a vital role in assisting us by helping place many of the cats that have come through our shelter into loving homes.

Thanks to the swift response of local fire departments, Belton Police and Animal Control, and the dedicated staff and volunteers of HELP Humane, no people or animals were injured. All animals from the facility have been safely relocated to foster homes and other organizations.

WILDLIFE IN RAYMORE: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

As our city continues to grow, it’s normal to see more wildlife—like raccoons, foxes, opossums, and even the occasional coyote, making appearances in our neighborhoods. These animals have adapted to urban life and often come looking for food, water, or shelter.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep wildlife wild and our community safe:

✅ Secure trash cans with tight-fitting lids.

✅ Keep all pet food indoors.

✅ Clean up fallen fruit from trees and remove bird seed from the ground.

✅ Never feed wildlife - it makes them lose their natural fear of people.

✅ Keep small pets supervised outdoors, especially during dusk and dawn.

✅ Keep pets up to date on all vaccinations recommended by your veterinarian. They know which illnesses are frequent in our area.

If you see an animal acting sick, injured, or aggressive, please don’t approach it. Contact Raymore Police Dispatch at 📞 816-331-0530 for assistance.
