Raymore Animal Control Providing Animal Control services within the city limits of Raymore, MO.

The Animal Control Division of the Raymore Police Department consists of two full-time Animal Control Officers (ACO). Duties of the ACOs include:

Pick-up and storage of loose, stray and dangerous animals
Enforcement of Raymore city ordinances regarding animals
Maintenance of animals housed at animal control facilities
Investigation of animal bite calls
Investigation of animal abuse / neglect

Direct contact with local veterinary offices regarding animal health concerns

We appreciate generous donations that keep our shelter clean and keep the animals we care for fed and comfortable. Donations may be dropped off at the shelter, but as ACOs are frequently out on calls, you may leave donations in the donation box by the front door or drop off donations at the Raymore Police Department at Raymore City Hall (south entrance) at 100 Municipal Circle. Monetary donations are tax-deductible through the Raymore Community Foundation and can be made online at https://bit.ly/raymoreAC. On Sunday, a concerned citizen in Raymore found a cat and contacted police dispatch. Thanks to their quick action, officers were able to safely pick her up and scan for a microchip.

Meet Harriet; she was microchipped and had been missing for 11 months. Because her microchip information was up to date, we were able to contact her family and reunite her with them!

Stories like Harriet’s are a powerful reminder of how important microchipping is. A simple chip can make all the difference in bringing a lost pet home, even after a long time apart.

When this sweet dog first came into our care, it was clear he had been through a lot. Extremely underweight and matted, this pup needed more care than our facility could provide long-term.

Thanks to one of our many incredible transfer partners, On My Way to Furever Rescue, that chance became a reality. The rescue stepped in immediately, providing extensive veterinary care, proper nutrition, grooming, and, most importantly, patience and love. With time and dedication, this dog transformed from a neglected stray into a healthy, happy companion.

We are thrilled to share that this once-struggling pup has officially been adopted into a loving forever home!

This is what partnership looks like. Transfers like this allow animals with greater medical or rehabilitation needs to receive the specialized care they deserve while freeing municipal resources to continue serving our community.

Thank you to On My Way to Furever Rescue for being an essential part of these lifesaving outcomes, and to the adopter who opened their heart and home. Stories like this are why we do what we do, and we couldn't do it without our incredible network of transfer partners.

As temperatures drop, we want to remind residents that city ordinances require animals to be provided with adequate care during cold weather.

By law, pet owners must ensure:
• Adequate shelter that protects animals from wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures
• Access to unfrozen water at all times
• Proper care to prevent unnecessary suffering due to extreme weather
• No prolonged exposure to dangerous cold conditions

Failure to provide proper shelter and care during extreme weather will result in enforcement action.

Cold Weather Cat Reminder:
Outdoor cats often seek warmth under vehicle hoods or near tires. Before starting your car, tap the hood and check around the wheels to help prevent injury.

This year, we achieved a 92% save rate, reflecting the dedication of our team and supporters. 53% of the animals that entered our care were successfully reunited with their owners, reinforcing our commitment to keeping pets and families together whenever possible.

These outcomes would not be possible without the support of our transfer partners, whose collaboration allows animals to move quickly into rescue, foster, and adoption programs best suited to their needs. Their partnership plays a critical role in lifesaving efforts and ensures positive outcomes for animals requiring additional time or resources.

As we look ahead, we remain focused on strengthening partnerships, expanding return-to-owner efforts, exploring ways to increase our save rate, and continuing to improve services for the community we serve.
