Help us say good morning to some of The Stray Sanctuary residents 🏩

Most of the animals at The Stray Sanctuary are fortunate enough to have an indoor kennel with outdoor doggy door access 🙌

But— this summer some of our residents have spent most of their time outdoors because of limited indoor kennel space…

We added several outdoor kennel spaces just to be able to take in animals who needed help when we didn’t have any indoor room. If we didn’t have room, we made room.

But now — our focus really has to shift from outdoor spaces to INDOOR WARMTH ❤️ If you’ve ever experienced a North Dakota winter… you know just how brutal it can be.

Wind chills that can reach -60°F 🥶 So keeping our animals warm isn’t just about comfort — it’s literally about survival.

The Afternoons of playing in the outdoor runs will soon turn into very quick trips outside strictly for potty breaks…

We’ve accomplished SO much this summer, but the work never really ends... As one project gets finished, another becomes a necessity.

We have 80-120 animals daily depending on us for absolutely everything, so waiting until it’s convenient is never an option.

So, as temperatures begin to drop, we’re asking our supporters to help us get ready for another cold North Dakota winter.

We literally pour our hearts into these animals… but we simply couldn’t do it without community support.

Does anyone recognize me!?!? FOUND DOG — found this morning October 23rd on 1804 east of Williston ND! She is very friendly & has a collar but no tags! Will be scanning for a chip shortly! 🤞 We hope someone is looking for this sweet soul, please share & help us get her back home safely!!

Remember the little bottle babies found on the side of the road in a laundry basket???

Well… look at them now!!! 🙌🙌🙌 After just 17 days in foster care and they have already almost tripled in size 🥰😍💓

This weekend they’ll be 6 weeks old and receive their first round of vaccines 🏩

Then on November 14th at 9 weeks old they will get their second dose & will be available for adoption 💝

Anyone ready to bring home a baby puppy to steal the show on Thanksgiving!?

WE COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP!!! — HELP US BUILD OUR CAT BARNDOMINIUM! 🐈🏡 A home of their own!

When we started The Stray Sanctuary, dogs were our priority. But somewhere along the way, we absolutely fell in love with cats. These independent, hilarious little circus monkeys have become our own support animals while we care for the dogs. ❤️

With upwards of 100 dogs here at times, keeping our cats safe and giving them space of their own has become a necessity. So many came to us already past the kitten stage and have made the sanctuary their forever home. They deserve a place where they can climb, play, relax, and just be cats.

At first, we pictured a “catio” of sorts... But if you know my wife & I … once we get an idea, there’s no in between, we take it all the way!

We have officially started construction on a 32’ x 16’ CAT BARNDOMINIUM! A dedicated space with multiple levels to climb, lots of room to explore, and most importantly a safe area all to themselves. 🐈‍⬛🐾

Construction is underway, but we need help paying for it. Simply not building it isn’t an answer for us. The cats need it, so we’re committed to making it happen!

Did you guess it right!?!?

Congratulations to Mark Thiers winner winner corn dog dinner!

A WHOLE corn dog stick! Without even a single tooth mark on it! Just straight down the hatch 😂

The crazy part was it had perforated its way OUT of her stomach & into her uterus causing a terrible infection 🤯

Thankfully it was found & safely removed! Who knows how long it’s been lodged inside — At least 4 weeks because we definitely don’t serve corndogs on the sanctuary menu!

Antibiotics & recheck scheduled! 💝

We took Shar & Pei in for their spays & eye surgeries today! But there was one problem……….. only one of them was able to be spayed!

Why!?!? Because Shar had a foreign object in her belly!!!!!!! 🧐

We’ve been working hard to get some last minute improvements done before the snow flies!!

My wife & I finished fencing in the entire sanctuary & the dogs absolutely LOVE it!!!

It’s so nice being able to let them all out to run & play!!! Watching them enjoy a safe space makes all the hard work worth it!

Thank you for helping us make improvements like this possible! We have a lot left to do & we will never stop improving — together we will create the absolute best sanctuary possible 🙌🏩🐾

Puppy update! 🩷 Todd is doing so good and making progress every day! The first couple days he was pretty shy and loved hiding behind the cat tree, AC, and end table, but he’d sneak out to watch me and was already curious about the other animals. He’s definitely craving companionship and is determined to be friends with everyone, especially Quinn, Gladys, and the cat 😂 He’s started initiating play with Quinn, giving little yips and paw boops to get her attention, but her zoomies still scare him back into hiding. Then she leaves, and he comes right back out to try again! He’s also starting to enjoy toys, especially cat toys and squeaky toys, and he’s been following the other animals around more.

He’s still a little nervous about being picked up and won’t take treats or food directly from my hand yet, but if I put him on my lap, he’s a great cuddler! He’ll also come find me if I’ve been out of sight too long, even if he keeps his distance. 😂 He slept in his crate all night with no issues, which I honestly wasn’t expecting since he’s away from his mama! Potty training is going amazingly well, too. He had one accident in the kennel on the way home and one little accident by the door, but otherwise he’s been doing his business outside as soon as his feet hit the grass. For a puppy who spent his first 12 weeks living outside, he’s doing fantastic! 🩷 Each day he seems a little more comfortable and adventurous, although he sometimes gets scared again the next morning and we start fresh. 😂 I’m excited to see his personality continue to come out and hopefully capture some videos of him and Quinn playing once he stops freezing the second he realizes I’m recording! 😂 Now I’m just curious if he’ll stay this easy as he gets more comfortable.
