Hot Weather Reminder for Pet Owners

As temperatures rise, please take a few minutes to make sure your pets have what they need to stay safe and healthy.

Fresh, clean water should be available at all times. Check it frequently throughout the day to ensure it hasn’t been spilled, become too warm, or run dry.

Shade is essential. Animals kept outdoors need access to shade that protects them from direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day.

Appropriate shelter should provide protection from the heat and the elements. A plastic dog house sitting in direct sunlight can become dangerously hot and is not an adequate source of relief on its own.

Remember, pavement, sidewalks, and truck beds can become hot enough to burn your pet’s paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet.

Theo was originally found roaming the streets as a stray—looking very sick and in need of help. He came to the Rawlins Animal Shelter where he started his journey to recovery.

After **two weeks of medical treatment**, Theo bounced back into a vibrant, active dog—the happy, healthy companion he was always meant to be. And now he’s found his **forever family** and his **forever canine bestie brother**. ❤️🐶

(and we think he’s going to be amazing ) ✨✨🌟🌟 He gets along very well with **humans**, but he is **particular** with his canine friends. Milo prefers a **more submissive** dog companion and would do best with a **female or a male** who is calm and confident in a respectful way.

Milo would do best with a family that understands the ins and outs of the husky breed—things like their high energy, strong prey drive, need for consistent training, and how they communicate (hello, howling!).*

A **meet-and-greet** with a potential adopter and their dog would be **preferred**.

**Milo graduates on July 29** and will be **available for adoption at that time**.
