Thank you to the fine men and women (in the cruisers and coordinating everything at dispatch) of the Brimfield Police Department for devoting time this evening to help find and return, from the cold hard streets and lush backyards of Portage County, "Trigger", the wayward wonder pony, back to his best life on Squibwych Farm. We appreciate your service to this community; it's people... and animals. With gratitude, the 'herd over at Squibwych' says, 'thank you.'

The grazing is a little meager, but we opened up the side yard to the animals. Even though we've been giving them hay they keep wandering the land looking for greener things.

Our second litter of rabbits are doing GREAT! They will be available for pets in about 3 weeks, and meat in about six weeks. For what it's worth, processing rabbits is the HARDEST part of my life.

Fun day here at Squibwych Farm ! Our first litter of the year has been moved from the rabbit colony to their "grow-out" pen where they can consume grass all day every day! This pen will be moved 1 to 2 times a day, as needed to keep them on a fresh diet of greens. Their first several weeks were spent in a colony where they had Mom for food the first few weeks, then supplemented with fresh greens I cut from the pasture as they slowly weened. Now they're fully weened and will eat the majority of their diet from the pasture with some supplemental rabbit pellets to assure a balance of nutrients. Just like moving our chicks from a brooder to pasture, it always warms my heart to see our livestock's obvious preference for pasture over pellets! These bunnies will be available for pet purchase in the next few weeks, and in about a month for meat. Please share with any friends in NE Ohio who may be interested in adding a family member, or a very healthy protein to their life!
