🌈 Rest in Peace, Angel Edna. 🌈
When we said yes to help Edna - we knew she must be miserable. The shelter was not in a means to do much for her medically, and asked for rescue assistance. They were able to charge her previous owners with cruelty. And then surrendered her to the shelter.
On transport we could see she was sweet as they come, but very uncomfortable. Unable to close her eyes, but unable to see she must have been this way for a while. We called the Animal Eye clinic of Spokane before she even arrived, cuz we knew her eyes were bad. First thing, we found her a comfortable spot with long time foster, Linda. Then we needed Bloodwork, stat. As we examined her horrendous Bloodwork results, the obvious infection in her uterus, the multiple surgeries needed for her eyes; we evaluated her Quality of Life. We never want to say goodbye so soon, but for Edna it was kinder to say goodbye now. We didn't want to put her fragile body through so much pain as continuous surgeries would entail.
Furry Farm gave her nine wonderful days of being the center of attention, cuddles, and knowing that not all humans are horrible. We are emotionally torn to shreds, our hearts ache that she endured so much for too long. We will honor Edna, continuing to rescue at risk medical needs seniors from our shelter systems.
