We are all so sad to give bad news today. Wednesday morning Nacho passed away in his sleep to go to the rainbow bridge. This is such sad news because he was doing so much better and was not sick when passed. They think he passed away from Fading kitten syndrome. So sorry Nacho and to his foster that worked so hard to get him healthy.

Also we are sad to sad that Nugget passed away recently due to several health issues. She went to the vet and had a upper respiratory infection, serious eye issues. She was put on medication and our foster had to hand feed her. Unfortunately she was to weak to fight and she went to the rainbow bridge too.

Our hearts are broken once again. We appreciate your support on tring to save them. Run free little angels and we will see you again.

Please pray 🐾🐈🙏 for another new emergency rescue. This 4 week old kitten was found on the side of the road. This kitten is already in foster care and will need to go to the vet.

This poor kittens is in rough shape and has ringworm on top of everything else.

If anyone can help us cover the vet bill please make a donation below. We estimate for the exam, medication, and test if able too for fiv and Feline leukemia if not in a couple weeks it can be tested around $100.

Please pray this little fur baby makes it.

Her name is Pickle, almost 4 years old, Female, 35 lbs, likes tennis balls (way to much lol) toys, walks, loves to play with other dogs but can be very protective. She’s very sweet and energetic, loves treats but can be picky, does not like vegetables and some fruits 😂. Very smart and playful. Needs regular access to the outside. Does well with cats. Very active. Kennel trained, I was told she does well with children from her last owner. Does need anxiety meds when getting her nails clipped, fully vaccinated and spayed. Always needs a toy around bed time or she will be a complete menace 😂 she does still need some training, skittish at first especially with people touching her head but after she trusts you she does wonderful. She is also microchipped.

🐈🐕🐇Welet to much time by. Let's get caught up on all our adoptions.

This truly is one of the best ways to help our rescue. Later this week I will be posting all new pictures of all our dogs and puppies all in need of great homes.

This Saturday, we will be having our adoption event at our Store Front from 1pm to 5pm at 2120 W Main St Suite 2 Rapid City.

We have had 8 more cats adopted that are not in these pictures.

We have a couple adoptions pending and on trial runs. We are so happy!!!!!

Well!!!!! It was a scary ordeal for Lori Railsback at our store front and this afternoon. To the jerk that came in and threatened to attack Lori and shot the kittens and cats, if she did not take them all! We all are going to pray for you to grow a heart and lose the additude!!!!!!

Lori had a man come in very upset today, because the humane society wanted $50 from him for each stray cat and kitten he had. There was a total of 4 cats and 5 kittens so grand total of 9. He agrued with the humane society and seemed to almost want to hit the staff. He took the cats and left.

So he came to our store front. He did not call us first, he just showed up!!!! This man was not nice at all!!!!! He told Lori he was going to Shot each cat and kitten if she did not say yes to taking them. He also told her he was going to assault her too.

Lori had witnesses and they were all so impressed on how strong she was to stand her ground and to take all 9 of the kitties. Even tho our intake is closed and our vet be is well over $3,000 and rent due on the first.of the momth. But this was an emergency.

Lori, I am so sorry this man threatened you, and I am so proud of you. Thank you for rescuing 5 kittens and 4 adult cats.

We are in desperate need of your help once again.
Boy, I am so pressing my luck with help today. Can anyone help and foster some of the cats and kittens. The 4 kittens are about 4 weeks old and the other kitten will be up for adoption once we have them looked at the vet. We need to test each adult catfor FIV and for feline leukemia , we need to give them vaccines, have them fixed if not pregnant and microchip them.

We will be in need of the following if anyone can help.

From every boardmember and from every animal in our care. We all thank you so much. You all are so amazing!!!!

Lori Railsback our Vice president has dumped all her savings and then some into the rescue each month. Last month was almost $2,000 alone. She is even on a fixed income. She also sold some of her personal belongings to give the money to the rescue. Thank you Lori so much for your donations and all the time you volunteer to help the animals in need. Lori is also the cat manager and for the thrift store.

Jenn is a boardmember, normally always works another job for the summer, but has volunteered her time to the rescue. She too has sacrificed her funds and has donated over $1,000 in supplies to help us. Jenn also cares for the cat lounge and Thrift store too.

Then there is our Tiffany she to is a boardmember. She recently was run over and rolled on by a full size cow. She almost died. Thank God she did not. She is the one that is caring for most of our rescue rabbits and some moms and puppies. She too has paid out of pocket $1,000s of dollars to cover the rabbits in her care. She also does our Spay and Neutering Clinics and adoption events. Thank you Tiffany for all you help.

Then we have Larry, Lori Voleen-told husband that is also a boardmember. He helps keep us girls in line and helps with maintenance, security and projects, along with adoption events.

Then my husband Eric is too a boardmember and he is my emotional support husband and for the rescue. He helps donate funds when he can, he pays for the electric bill for the hot springs rescue. He also cares for all 16 of our personal dogs while I work and care for the rescue.

Then there is Me, Michelle Brock. I am trying to work ever spare minute to give funds to the rescue. I work a full time job, work doing yard work and care for the rescue animals. I donate most of my personal check and all the funds from yard work to help keep the rescue going.

So when we recieve funds from our supportters we are more then happy!!!! I have been applying for $500 grants everyday. It cost us $460 a day to run our rescue this year so far. We hope to have some approvals soon.

We hope some day we will have enough monthly supportters to where we can focus more on rescuing and less on funds.

Ok, I know I may be pushing my luck but, is there any chance we could get some donations to buy this Gun Doggie Door? 🐕

I have one of these in the rescue and love it. Unfortunately, I have a dog that knows how to destroy the plastic flap doggie doors and need this Gun Doggie Door to help stop the dog from destroying them and to keep the cold air inside.

I even put up carpet as a temporary fix and she knows how to rip that off the wall too.
We only have $200 in our bank account as of right now. Plus we are dealing with an emergency situation and that will not even come close to what it will cost to help that rescue.

So please do not get upset at us for asking for help. I, Michelle had to spend $903 of my paycheck on my van to get it fixed, and only could donate $450 to the rescue towards bills. So I am tapped out completely. My truck is down with a bad valve, and have no clue when that will be fixed due to how expensive it will be.

We run 100% on your support and Volunteers. Please help me keep the shelter cool with this indestructible Doggie door.

Stars No-Kill Rescue

STARS is about responsible pet parenting. We want to assist pet owners to be able to afford basic care for their dog or cat. We provide inexpensive services to assist with pet owners who have big hearts but not so much big pockets. Also, we are raising funds to get a facility to rescue. Our focus will be in Custer County, but we are able to assist anyone in and around the Black Hills.

Stars provide a Low Cost Micro-Chip Your pet for only $25 to help keep pets out of the shelters and to help keep them reunited back to their family.

Stars provides a volunteer service for Animals Search and Rescue.

Stars is working on the over population of Feral Cats with a Mobile Spay and Neuter Clinic.
