The Township of Randolph's Health Department compares restaurant chicken processing to farm chicken processing, illustrating the concept of 'farm to table' with live chicken markets. Residents can choose between dead/frozen chickens at supermarkets or fresh ones from farms. It's worth noting that no one is forcing Randolph residents to purchase fresh chickens, particularly if they haven't done so in the past 7 years. Those who prefer can continue to buy frozen chickens from supermarkets, while others, including Latino, European immigrant, and Indian communities, may prefer fresh options.

Enjoys Memorial Day weekend ✌️🇺🇸

82-year old Ida Huddleston and her daughter, Delsia Bare own the 1,200 acre cattle farm which is located in Mason County, just outside Maysville, Kentucky. A developer representing an undisclosed AI/tech company offered Huddleston and Bare roughly $26 Million for their farmland, a bid that is 10 times the typical market value for Mason County, Kentucky farmland. The tech giant—which has remained anonymous behind non-disclosure agreements—proposed building a massive 2,000 acre data center campus in the area (using also some of their neighbor’s land).

The women view the land as priceless, tracing their family’s agricultural roots on the property back to the Civil War era. Bare and Huddleston also strongly believe that preserving agricultural land is vital to feeding the nation, famously stating “26 million doesn’t mean anything”. The family expressed concerns about how the data center would affect the environment, exhaust the local power grid, and negatively impact neighboring properties.

The real cost of AI data centers is exceptionally high—check out the comments section for more on this 💔

Do you support the women, or think they made a mistake?

After dedicating seven years and substantial resources, our Kahana Farm has reached a critical juncture. Despite our diligent efforts and considerable financial investment, we have not garnered sufficient support from the Township of Randolph. Consequently, we have made the informed decision to list the farm for sale,

New buyers exploring potential opportunities for future development, such as residential or commercial projects, including storage facilities or gas stations. Moreover, local farmers in Randolph Township face compounded challenges due to stringent regulations, as exemplified by a $2000 fine levied against our small store for installing air conditioning without a permit, (we had no idea you need permit for small air condition unit) highlighting concerns regarding the sustainability of farming operations in the area.

Township of Randolph was a great home for us in over 20 years but town change in last few years now it’s all about money and not the open green spaces 🐎🐑🦃

Not at our town . Our Farm was established 1792 and we will stay a farm in next 250 years ✌️🇺🇸

Township of Randolph keep dreaming of pushing us out . We are not going anywhere 🇺🇸✌️

The Greenberg farm has been around in Pemberton for decades. But Jacob Greenberg died in 1995, and his wife Billie died in 2011. The farm was left to the children and they sold the farm in 2021. At the same time, the town decided the property was in need of redevelopment. Fast forward to this spring and the town OK'd a housing development on the farmland. Some folks in town aren't happy about this, but current board members blamed agreements made by their predecessors for the agreement they just approved.

Family rejects $26M AI data center offer to protect generational farmland and its purpose 🌾📊

A Kentucky family has reportedly declined a $26 million offer from an AI company that wanted to purchase part of their farmland for a data center. Instead of selling, they chose to protect the land, saying it carries generational meaning and a deeper purpose connected to feeding people.

The decision reflects a growing tension between rapid technological expansion and preserving traditional farmland. While data centers are considered essential for future infrastructure, they often require vast land, raising concerns about long-term environmental effects and the loss of agricultural spaces.

Supporters praise the family’s decision as a stand for heritage and sustainability, while others highlight the economic opportunity they declined. The story brings attention to the ongoing balance between embracing progress and protecting what already exists for future generations.
