(We live in a world where we just accept scammers are everywhere. It's a crime and even when you don't fall for it, it SHOULD still be a crime. Just yesterday I had multiple projects needing attention and was interrupted over and over by an individual requesting boarding. To seem real they had question after question including having me stop to figure out total costs. Late in the day I was tipped off it was a scammer after they had a private on house vet that would be dropping them off. It isn't just the time it takes to send a text that was lost. When you run a business, time is money. Then add the mental distraction from what needs to get done and it adds hours to a day.)

* Google, a breeder for reviews and complaints
*Google AI has recently improved tremendously and if you give it all the information you have received, it is pretty great at detecting scammers and even explaining how the scam works.
* Pay with a credit card and never through Cash App, Zelle, or Venmo
*****Ask the breeder/seller to do a video call or a FaceTime, just to make sure that the breeder is real and that the pet is real. Have them hold the puppy or handle the dog while in live video chat with them. In selling puppies, scammers are typically selling with stolen pictures of a pup that may have been posted years ago. A scammer, typically using stolen photos, can't do that.
