Today we’re celebrating the long, lovable, and legendary dachshund! These little dogs may be small in size, but they’re bursting with personality and history.
Originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers, dachshunds are fearless, determined, and excellent diggers — their name even means “badger dog”! 🦡

Dachshunds come in two sizes:
🔹 Standard (up to 20 lbs)
🔹 Miniature (under 11 lbs)
They also have three coat types:

And they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including red, black and tan, dapple, piebald, and more!
⚠️ Dachshund Safety Tips:
🔹 Protect their back! Dachshunds are prone to IVDD (spinal issues). Use ramps or stairs and avoid letting them jump off furniture.
🔹 Keep them fit – extra weight adds stress to their spine.
🔹 Hold with care – always support both the chest and rear.
🔹 Exercise is important – go for regular walks, but keep it gentle.
