Wishing the best of luck to the riders competing at Tryon International this weekend! We are cheering you on, and cannot wait to see the amazing accomplishments and learning experiences that you walk away with. Anyone who competes knows that winning is just the cherry on top - the experience of training, conditioning, traveling, and even just being at the show grounds is a massive win in itself. The amount of learning that comes from the experience of making it to this level is indescribable, and we hope you are soaking up every second. You should be so proud of yourselves and your horses - you have done, and are doing, incredible things. ❤️

Looking back on the past weekend, there just aren't words strong enough to encapsulate how proud we are of the riders who took on this event with so much heart, dedication, and sportsmanship.

Competitions at this level are an incredible feat just to attempt, much less to complete. On top of the sheer willpower, determination, and astronomical amount of work it takes to reach this level of the sport, this year also graced us with some heartbreakingly beautiful moments that reminded us just why we love this sport so much, and what it's all about.

Congratulations to every rider who showed up for their horses, and chose to reach for their dreams. We are so proud of every single one of you. ❤️

We are so proud to have Alex on the Fleeceworks team! ♥️

“When I was a little kid, I was very close with my grandfather; he was a World War Two veteran,” Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI5* rookie Alex Conrad shared. “He gave me his dog tags when he passed away. At every major show, I wear his dog tags under my cross country vest, because I always think ‘they kept him safe when he was at war.’ And I [thought], ‘I bet they’ll keep me safe around this cross country course.’ He was the one that gave me the money to buy Malibu Preacher when we [got] him a long time ago, so it’s special.”

Our final Kentucky CCI5* rookie story comes to us from Alex Conrad, who's tackling his debut with the former race-trained Thoroughbred, Malibu Preacher.
