The City of Raleigh asked me to post the following:
Pools are not technically allowed due to the standing water issues they create (bacteria, bugs, etc). Since it’s not a staffed area of the park, enforcement of temporary pop-up style pools becomes tricky. It’s unlikely that there will be issues if a patron brings something in while they are at the park, actively supervises it while in use, and then takes it with them when they leave. Take what you bring, also applies to other stuff like chairs, toys, etc.
Raleigh draws a hard line on pools that are left out. Any pool left in the park will be thrown out when the parks crews make their rounds through the park.
All patrons are encouraged to dump water towards the drain and be mindful not to leave the faucet running. If buckets are dumped by the faucet, it tends to run down the hill to the shady area and become a muddy mess. If you dump off the opposite corner of the concrete pad, it will go into the drain and help prevent issues. We understand that buckets get knocked over by the dogs and its not entirely preventable, but any time we can dump properly, we should.
Anyone who wants to avoid the park when it does get muddy is encouraged to check our online field status. It’s designed for ballfields, but if a flat and sunny baseball field is code yellow or red, then the wooded and sloped dog park is likely muddy. It’s not a foolproof system, but it does give some sort of estimate of the conditions that you can expect.
**Coaches and or team managers, any changes in field status beyond this point will be communicated to you through your league administrator**
