Any local peeps missing an absolutely stunning male husky? This boy was almost hit by a car Wednesday night, 1/19/23. Luckily, my friend picked him up. He was found near Victory Church, Sunnystone, and Wild Orchid in the very NW corner of Wake County.

Amy's done all the right things with posting, going door to door, Triangle Lost Pet, NextDoor, area shelters, etc. No luck yet.
This boy obviously belongs to somebody. He's very well mannered in the home and he's been very well taken care of.

Almost one third of the pets that come to the Wake County Animal Center are surrendered by their owners because they can’t afford to keep them. That’s why the Wake County Animal Center is partnering to host a series of Community Pet Days to offer low-cost veterinary care, like rabies shots, microchipping and wellness services, along with resources on how to find affordable pet food and supplies.

Upcoming dates are 9/25, 10/30, and 11/6.

Check out their website for locations and details:

I had the pleasure of caring for several avian clients this summer and really enjoyed the experience. Birds have been part of my life for decades. Our family has had a large flock of pet chickens for almost 20 years now. It's been a while since I personally owned a parrot, cockatiel, or finch, but my recent pet sits have reminded me of how much I enjoy their company. I recently completed the Pet Sitters International Bird Care and First Aid certification process so that I could be as up to date as possible on bird care best practices, diseases, and first aid.

Do you have an avian friend that you are in need of pet care for from time to time? I'd love to help you out!

Any local folks been putting off cleaning out their linen closets? Saving Grace is in desperate need and their Donation Station is available for drop offs 24/7. It's right behind the Harris Teeter on HW 98 and Old Creedmoor Rd. Turquoise colored out house with a metal dragonfly sculpture on the door. The pups would be so appreciative!!!

FYI..SG gratefully accepts towels, sheets, blankets, fleece, comforters, etc, but NOT pillows.

Beautiful "Tinker" and I had some great adventures at Umstead and Falls Lake. "December"-kitty was a great bedtime snuggle partner. 🥰

Here's what their momma wrote to say about our time together:

"Rachel enabled me to enjoy my vacation without worrying about my dog and cat.
Rachel took my young, extremely active dog for daily hikes, sent pictures of their adventures and sent gps generated maps so I could see what kind of fun my dog was having. My shy little kitty even slept with Rachel!!
I felt totally at peace leaving my beloved pets with Rachel."

What a fun pic to share. Read what Otter's momma had to say about our time together:

"We recently used Rachel for overnight pet sitting services. This was a fairly new pet for us and the first time we had left her alone overnight, so I was pretty anxious. Our cat looked very content on all videos and photos Rachel sent daily, and she stuck to her routine. Our cat loves to play and Rachel kept her entertained. She was very responsive to all text messages I sent while we were gone. You can tell she’s an animal lover and we definitely recommend."

In addition to all the fabulous clients' pets that add fullness to our lives, as gaps in 24-hour care bookings allow, our family also takes in foster puppies for Saving Grace NC. Here's our most recent "Happiness" litter. They head back to the farm this week to find their forever families. Hilarity, Giggles, Snicker, Glee, and Merriment - Your stay with us has been an absolute joy! Best of luck sweet ones in finding your humans. They are going to be blessed indeed.

I just learned of a local service I am so excited to share with central NC pet owners. A pet ambulance service!!!

In an emergency situation, if your pet is too large or in too much discomfort for you to safely transport, Dennis Money at Pet EMT Animal Ambulance & Transport Svcs is the answer! I think this business service is a brilliant offering and plan to keep his contact info on hand.

Sitting for pets that weigh as much or more than I do presents unique challenges. I love the idea of having this resource at my fingertips in an emergency situation.

Serving Central North Carolina and beyond, Pet EMT provides 24-Hour emergency and non-emergency transportation services for domestic and exotic pets.

Ever wonder why your pup can't partake of one of life's true pleasures - chocolate? Even though Fido might love the taste of chocolate, here's a great, short article with the specifics of why chocolate is dangerous for dogs:

You’ve probably heard chocolate is dangerous for dogs, but did you know why? Here’s what the issue is. Q: Why is chocolate toxic to dogs, and what should I do if my dog eats some? A: For those of us who love chocolate and know about the health benefits of dark chocolate, it’s hard to […]
