📌OPERATION: GET OPAL HOME — DAY 3/30 🏡

FROM SURVIVING… TO WAITING FOR FOREVER. ❤️

Before Opal knew the comfort of a foster home, she spent a couple of years surviving on her own.

For months, she was seen roaming. She didn’t know that the people trying to help her weren’t going to hurt her. She had learned to survive by being cautious all while raising multiple litters of babies.

Then, in October of 2025, everything changed.

Opal was finally trapped and brought to safety. ❤️ (Peep the pics leading up to her trapping plus rescue of her babies that all found homes.)

Since then, we’ve watched this girl transform.

She became an incredible mama.
She learned what it meant to be safe.
She learned the comforts of living in a home.
She became house trained and crate trained.
She watched her babies grow up and find families of their own.

And now there’s just one more chapter we’re waiting to write…

OPAL GOES HOME. 🏡

Her past explains why she sometimes needs a little extra time to trust—but once she knows she’s safe, you get to see the girl we’ve been lucky enough to know all this time.

She survived the hard part.

Now she deserves the good part. 🥹❤️

🐶Meraki Animal Rescue & Outreach Needs Your Help!

With no adoption applications recently, we are trying to expand our adoption events, and we are hoping to purchase a few much-needed supplies that will help us create a safe, welcoming, and professional setup for our adoptable dogs.

We are currently looking for donations toward:

🐾A 10x10 canopy tent to provide shade and shelter at adoption events
🐾A custom tablecloth for our adoption event table
🐾A rescue banner to help people find us and learn more about what we do
🐾Adoption event signs to help showcase events

There are several ways you can help!

Donate an item — If you have one of these items you would like to donate to the rescue, we would be incredibly grateful.

Purchase an item directly for us — If you would like to purchase one of these supplies and donate it to Meraki, please reach out to us!

Know a company that may be able to help? We would love to connect with businesses that may offer nonprofit/rescue discounts, sponsorships, donated products, or other assistance.

Make a monetary donation — We also have an immediate need for financial support. After several upcoming spay and neuter appointments for our puppies, our rescue bank account is expected to be down to around $200 within the next few weeks.

💰Every dollar donated helps us continue providing veterinary care, food, supplies, and everything else our dogs need while they wait for their forever homes.

DAY 1️⃣ OF 3️⃣0️⃣

September has officially become OPAL MONTH.

For the next 30 days, we have ONE mission:

🐾 GET OPAL HOME.

Opal is our longest foster resident and the girl who helped start Meraki. She came to us after surviving on her own for nearly a year. She became an amazing mama, raised her babies, and watched every one of them go off to start their own lives.

And somehow… Mama is still waiting. 💔

Opal is around 3 years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, crate trained and house trained. She does well with dogs and cats, but because she can be cautious, she would thrive in a home with older children or no children.

Underneath that cautious exterior is a girl who just needs someone willing to give her the chance she has waited SO long for.

So we’re doing something different.

Every single day in September, you’re going to see Opal. 😂❤️

Her story.
Her goofy side.
Her favorite things.
Her glow-up.
The things her foster loves about her.
And probably a few posts written by Opal herself. 🐾

We aren’t stopping until the right person sees her.

Hi yall! Cheers to the last day in August of 2026!

I just want to personally say thank you to those that support Meraki & have been here for us whether it’s by sending a monetary donation or amazon wishlist donation, dropping off sheets for fosters, donating dog food or cat food, sharing our posts, finding us resources or just being a follower of our page. Thank YOU!! Without you, guys & gals, we couldn’t do what we do.

I also want to say a HUGE thank YOU to my fosters & volunteers that help day in & day out by making posts, giving up their personal time to make it to appts or volunteers at events & just being the backbone behind what Meraki stands for. I could not do any of this without you! Truly, thank you, from the bottom of my heart! ♥️

Pepi & Violet say ‘good morning!’. These 4 month old babies are still waiting to be adopted. Located in the Raeford, NC area but can be adopted out of area with transport. They come spayed/neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped & on monthly prevention! Crate trained & working on house training & leash manners. They’re both VERY sweet, playful & smart!
