π¨ Winter Storm Reminder: Please bring your pets inside. π¨
Dangerously cold temperatures are moving into Centre County this week and continuing into the coming weeks. When the weather drops into negative degrees, animals donβt understand forecasts or warnings, they only feel the cold and wait for protection. Dogs, cats, and all outdoor pets depend on us to make the safe choice for them.
Prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures can cause hypothermia, frostbite, and even death, including for animals with thick fur. If you truly cannot bring a pet indoors, please make sure they have proper shelter raised off the ground, filled with straw for insulation, protected from wind and moisture, and always supplied with unfrozen water. These small steps can mean survival during a winter storm.
Extreme cold is dangerous, and leaving pets exposed may result in animal cruelty charges. Please also check on neighbors, elderly residents, and anyone with outdoor animals who may need help. Cold weather is not something pets can endure alone, they rely on us to keep them safe, warm, and alive.
