ADOPTED

Available for Adoption through Creature Comforts Clarke County upon approval
Adoption fee $100
Sammy (female) - Dachshund Mix, 7 months old, Spayed, 19 lbs, about 8 in tall (foot to shoulder), 2 feet long (nose to tail tip)
Fully vaccinated , On HW prevention and Flea prevention
99% potty trained, Kennel trained
Good with other dogs. (Supervision) During rough play is good because she is young. Corrects with a firm No. Comes on Command. Sits on command. Lays down on command.
She is trained with the finger snap and a change of voice tone. She responds very well.
This dog is very smart and she's very sweet and she's going to make the best companion for somebody that will take the time to get past her nervousness at the beginning. It takes her a little bit of time to get comfortable with you so patience is your virtue with her and then once she loves you she loves you completely.

For years, some of the most horrific acts of animal abuse were treated as minor offenses with minimal consequences. That is now changing.

Mississippi has enacted a new law that elevates animal torture and extreme cruelty to a felony offense, ensuring that acts like intentional mutilation, burning, drowning, or prolonged abuse can no longer be dismissed as “lesser crimes.”

This shift matters. Felony charges give law enforcement and prosecutors stronger tools to hold abusers accountable and help prevent repeat offenses. Research has consistently shown a link between animal abuse and violence toward people, making this a step toward safer communities as well as justice for animals.

This law sends a clear message: cruelty is not normal, not acceptable, and not protected by tradition or indifference. Animals deserve protection, and accountability is long overdue.

Progress may come slowly, but when cruelty is finally taken seriously, it matters.

I really hope you are taking care of your outside pets. It's so cold! We offered free hay and one person took us up on it. And no, animals are not made to be outside in bad temps.
