Paws & Play South Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving South Georgia through compassionate animal advocacy, rescue support, and community outreach.
Every day, we work to improve the lives of animals and the people who care for them by providing resources, education, and assistance throughout our communities.
Our Programs and Services:
We are committed to creating a safer, healthier future for animals through a variety of programs and services, including:
• Access to affordable spay and neuter services to help reduce pet overpopulation
• Pet food assistance for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship
• Rehoming, foster placement, and adoption programs that help animals find loving, permanent homes
• Community education on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and preventive care
• Transportation assistance for adoptable animals and rescue efforts
• Collaboration and resource-sharing with local shelters, rescues, and animal welfare organizations
• Advocacy for stronger laws and policies that protect animals from abuse, neglect, and abandonment
• Support for special animal welfare initiatives and community-based programs as needs arise
• And much more—all with the goal of improving the lives of animals across South Georgia
While our organization has previously supported the City of Quitman Animal Shelter, Paws & Play Dog Rescue is an independent organization and has stopped being affiliated with City of Quitman Animal Shelter
We believe every animal deserves compassion, dignity, and, whenever appropriate, every possible opportunity for a second chance. Through rehabilitation, advocacy, and responsible placement efforts, we strive to create positive outcomes for both animals and their families.

Recent Impact
In just the past three weeks, our volunteers have:
• Helped restore electrical service to a home caring for 11 animals, creating a safer environment for both the pets and their caregiver
• Provided food and essential supplies for six dogs living outdoors
• Coordinated the placement and rehoming of unwanted animals into safe and loving homes
• Supported Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) volunteers caring for community cats
• Assisted individuals experiencing homelessness by helping them care for their pets
• Met with local leaders and community stakeholders to advocate for stronger animal welfare initiatives
• Assisted with reporting animal abuse and neglect while helping protect the identities of concerned citizens
• Reunited a dog facing euthanasia with its previous owner
• Hosted a community dog event at Moody Air Force Base to promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare awareness
• Coordinated spay and neuter appointments to help reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal health
• Supported numerous additional animal welfare efforts throughout our community
