A Beautiful Story for your Friday! Love is powerful. 🐶❤️🐾

When this mailman learned a former customer had passed away, there was just one thing he wanted to do: Adopt his dog.

Texas mail carrier Ian Burke never expected that one stop along his delivery route would change his life forever.

For more than a year, he visited a wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran, Ken Meyer, and his loyal dog, Floyd, who eagerly waited for him every week.

Their friendly routine became something they all looked forward to.

After Burke was reassigned to a different route, he lost contact with them until he learned the heartbreaking news that the veteran had passed away and Floyd had been surrendered to a local animal shelter with no family to take him in.

Unable to forget the faithful dog he had come to know so well, Burke rushed to the shelter before it opened to make sure he could adopt Floyd himself.

He said he felt a responsibility to honor the bond Floyd had shared with his late owner by giving him the loving home he deserved.

Today, Floyd has a second chance at life with someone who already loved him, and their remarkable story serves as a touching reminder that compassion doesn't end when someone's journey does.

Sometimes, the greatest way to honor a person's memory is by caring for the one they loved most.

For our current and prospective Paws At Home clients, we will be having less schedule flexibility over the next few weeks. What that means for you is that same day appointments and refills may not be possible. We know many of you entrust us with very important health challenges for your pets. We will do our best to continue to provide timely and compassionate care, but please try to give us more advanced notice and work with us on scheduling.

Cats make me laugh! These boys were investigating my backpack while I was examining their older dog sister.

Believe me, we can all use a bit more laughter in our lives. My availability and schedule flexibility are getting more challenging. We will continue to do our best to address needs, especially for Hospice and Home euthanasia, but please be patient and contact us early for prescription refills.
