We would like to advise all parties concerned regarding this posted dog as to the facts & reality.
Our original call was for a dog found on Beartown Road in Lake Luzerne. After the caller was informed that they needed to contact the Lake Luzerne Dog Control Officer. The caller advised us that they had already spoken to Lake Luzerne, and they didn’t have a Dog Control Officer. We told them that there was a Dog Control Officer for Lake Luzerne and would be happy to give them the phone number. We informed them that we were not able to take a dog from another town as we do not hold that contract, we only have a contract for Dog Control with Queensbury and Glens Falls.
At this point, the caller changed their story as to the location that the dog was found. The caller now said that the dog was found down the road on Clendon Brook Road in the Town of Queensbury and was now our responsibility. As they changed their story, we informed them that they would have to contact the Lake Luzerne Dog Control Officer.
Shortly thereafter, the caller hung up. They called back a little while later and stated that they were on the way to our location with Law Enforcement. We contacted the Lake Luzerne Dog Control Officer and informed him of the situation and told him that we would temporarily hold the dog until he was able to pick them up under the circumstances.
When Law Enforcement and the caller arrived, we took the dog based on the condition that the dog was in under cruelty guidelines and the debilitated state it was in. Law Enforcement were told the same thing that we were, that the dog was found on Beartown Road in Lake Luzerne.
The dog was brought to the veterinarian for a medical evaluation and treatment. The dog has been in this condition for an extended period of time, this did not happen recently.
The dog has been receiving treatment under the care and financial cost of the SPCA of Upstate New York.
The dog does not currently fall under the guidelines of our Dog Control contract with the Town of Queensbury, or under the Animal Cruelty contract with Warren County. If a person is found who has done this intentionally, then the Warren County Sheriff's Office will follow through with repercussions and the party responsible will pay all associated costs.

This dog will remain in the care of The SPCA of Upstate New York until the veterinarian has cleared it medically.
The SPCA has not asked for or expected any donations in regard to this dog. We are only looking for background information as to what occurred and led to the current situation.

UPDATE: REUNITED!! Magick is home safe & sound after 303 days, 21 hours :)

"I lost this guy 306 days ago!
WELCOME HOME, MAGICK!
(tytytytytytytytyty, Veronica!)

Magick got out the night after Christmas last winter just as it was getting scary cold out. He apparently got picked up for warmth, traveled from place to place, to shed, and kept outdoors whenever warm enough, somehow ending up on other side of c. It was a horse farm with lots to field work requiring his services, he is a fierce hunter. Veronica was going to try to find owner or set him up somewhere else for winter, then came across my missing cat poster (thought I tore em all down, after losing all hope!), and thankfully stopped by the apartment complex to ask around. Out on his adventures, Magick earned the name Pita (pain in the ass). Suffice it to say, I am so happy he's back home. And I'm so so proud of my boy, to keep as strong as he did. 306 days... keep the hope, you really never know!"
