WHY DON’T MORE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING? ⬇️
I’ve had some friends lately ask me why more people haven’t heard of equine assisted learning.
I’m asked this question because I know a lot of people who have benefited from equine assisted learning, but they don’t know why this line of work seems to be a hidden gem.
Here’s a few of my theories:
1️⃣ Society as a whole tells you that horses NEED to be ridden. A horse is worthless if it can’t be ridden. There’s no point in being around horses if you’re not riding them.
❌ This is so far from the truth! I have had countless people tell me that just being in the presence of a horse helps them feel calm.
2️⃣ “Horse Therapy” is a really confusing term. I’ve actually had someone ask me if I give therapy to horses. No. Horse therapy can refer to about a dozen different modalities of healing for people or horses.
✅ Equine assisted learning is generally a non-riding form of relationship building with horses. My sessions are focus on confidence building & learning horse body language.
3️⃣ You have to experience it to fully understand it. It’s difficult to describe horse connection in a single sentence.
✨Until you've had a 1,200-pound animal completely teach you a lesson about your own boundaries or confidence without uttering a single word, it’s just a concept. It’s a visceral feeling, not just a concept.
Have you ever heard of equine assisted learning? What do you know about it- or what do you want to know about EAL?
