We’re going to have double the fun in May because Millie and Wrigley also honeymooned and are expecting babies the 19th of May just a few days after Marge. These cuties will be a little smaller, more of a medium size litter. We’re so excited.

We recently brought a new daddy into our program named Clyde. He is a chocolate merle poodle with a cute brown nose and we’re excited to see the beautiful babies he will produce. He came for a visit today and it’s crazy how different poodles can look. Mr Wrigley is also a purebred poodle with a much more relaxed wavy coat. People ask us all the time if he is a golden doodle because he doesn’t have the typical poodle curl. Watch out for Clyde babies this spring.

This sweet boy is staying with us for a few weeks to do some training before he goes to his new home. He has started to get a little more freedom in the house and he is the best boy. He’s using the doggie door with no trouble, knows sit, wait, and come so far and is working on a few new cues. He is such a sweet boy who just wants to sit at your feet and keep you company or play with the big dogs. He is just the perfect little mini sheepadoodle. His family named him ‘Little Brother’ after the puppy from the Disney Movie Mulan. Doesn’t he fit his name?

This sweet boy Blue, he looks just like Snoopy to me. He has been reserved but will be staying with us for a few more weeks for additional training before he goes to his new home. Isn’t he the sweetest?! We’re so happy we get to snuggle him and enjoy him a little longer.

Dogs are ‘den’ animals. This little girl with the grey collar sure loves her Den. It has become her comfort place where she loves to chill. She’s the first to go in there and usually where we find her. She prefers the smaller crate that is more enclosed. It’s nice when they get to the point of wanting to be in there and it is a comfort to them. She is doing such a good job with crate training along with her brothers.

We had a visit from one of our previous puppies today Josie. She was from one of our standard litters back in 2020 and is the sweetest girl. Look how beautiful she is, all 80lbs of her.

These sweeties are making great progress with crate training and are going for about 2 hours in their individual crates quiet without accidents and are able to take a potty break and back to their crate without crying. Many people don’t know how much puppies sleep. Puppies at this age will sleep approximately 18-20 hours a day which is essential for their growth and development. Crate training and creating that positive association with the crate helps tremendously with potty training and teaches them to hold their bladder until they are in the correct place to go potty (outside) and gives them a safe place of their own.

These two boys are the sweetest! Brown collar/Bernie, and Blue collar have very similar personalities. These two really love being with people. They are the first to come when you call them…Every time. They love to be held and in your lap and are such social little boys. I think they are going to make great little lap dogs.

Today our puppy of the day is our sweet grey collar female. This girl is very similar to our black collar male with a curly tricolor coat that will be very similar to her daddy. She has a black spot on her bottom right by her tail and lots of black freckles/ticking throughout her white coat. Grey has a sweet even keeled personality with a snuggly side as well as a sweet playful side.

The puppies have been doing a fantastic job of consistently going to the potty pad for over a week now so we are introducing the doggie door. Their potty pad will be placed next to the doggie door and another potty pad will be placed right outside the doggie door. We help them to find the doggie door and practice going in and out for playtime. Once they get used to using the doggie door consistently and recognize the potty pad is outside we will take the inside potty pad away so that they start going potty outside consistently. This is a process and we will progress as the puppies gain a good understanding of associating outside as the potty place. They are so smart though and pick things up pretty fast. We will also be implementing more consistent crate training over the next few days.

Socialization for puppies looks like a lot of different things. It is important from an early age to expose them gradually to a variety of different sights, sounds, and experiences. One way we love to do this is to bring them on car rides with us and to take them for short trips around town in a carrier to see and hear everyday things that are new to them in a safe way that will not expose them to germs or other things that could make them sick. At first when we start bringing them in the car they can sometimes be a little nervous but quickly get used to this new experience. One of the best things families can do when they bring their new puppy home is to continue to expose them to new things in a safe way so that they are not scary to them. The good thing about being a mom of teenagers/preteens in lots of activities is that it gives us lots of chances to take the puppies on short trips daily in the car to experience these things. We love our car puppy carrier that secures them safely in their seat.
