THE HOOF CAPSULE Farriers have been around for as long as horses needed to be shod. The Worshipful Company of Farriers, was established in 1356 during the reign of Edward III. A 'Farrier' should not be confused with a 'Blacksmith'. A farrier works with horses but needs training as a blacksmith in order to make the horseshoe . A blacksmith is a craftsman who fabricates objects out of iron on an anvil.Blacksmith comes from iron formerly called" black metal" and farrier from the latin " ferrum " ,iron . [ 2,921 more words ]

To educate a horse to perform in any disciplines a good understanding of his anatomy in relation to his locomotion has to be described. The results of studies revealed that 74% of the horses with back pain had a form of lameness and 32% of lame horses had an evidence of back problems. In human the muscles are long and mostly parallel to the bone they move, but in horses the major muscles of motion are at an angle to the bones ,like the shoulders or the hip, to produce a greater power . In his book ,"Riding Logic"the author explain the importance of the rider's core stability. What he calls "Kreuz anspannen" has been translated to "bracing the back" causing the rider to tense his abdominal muscles which is not the result of Mueseler teaching. This text will be an attempt to introduce the muscle with the unique particularity of being the muscle that connects the upper body with the lower body in man and the hind quarters to the trunk and subsequently to the forehand in horses. The different means the rider has to manage his horse are natural, such as hands, legs and seat, or artificial, such as whip, spurs, lunging and others. The role of the hands is to regulate the paces and the direction the horse is intended to go. The hands through the reins can act singlely or simultaneously having five different effects.. The hands may resist, but always equal to, never superior to, the resistance of the horse exploiting the impulsion coming from the haunches to the bit. [ 756 more words ]
