Client picked up his Hawaiian Axis deer pedestal mount this evening. It was a challenging piece to do but he is happy with the result. Since I couldn’t find an Axis deer manikin that would fit it I ended up using a pronghorn antelope manikin and changed out the head with a whitetail head that I modified. Sometimes you just do what you need to do!

I’m thankful to have a/c in the shop! Really helps during hot days like the ones we’re having as I work on finishing deer mounts.

Met my goal today of getting all of the 35 deer that came in last season put together by the end of June! First time I’ve been able to actually pull it off! Having 6 Saturdays per week and a tough winter definitely helped.
Still have a few small game etc to do but now I can go camping and fishing without feeling like I should be home working in the shop.

Feels good to be on the home stretch! Only 3 more deer mounts left to put together, which I’m aiming to do by the end of next week. I still have some small game mounts to work on but I’m planning on working on those between camping trips.

One of the reasons why I kept at it in the shop this winter was so I could go camping and fishing in the Adirondacks this summer without feeling guilty. Seeing how that’s where I’m headed tomorrow morning the shop will be closed until next Monday 5/19.

Sometimes we hunters get lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. Such was the case for the bow hunter that took this nice 200+lb bear in Jefferson County while deer hunting from a tree stand located by a cornfield. Needless to say he was excited to pick up his rug mount and whitened skull this morning!
