Who's ready for a feel-good animal story?
We 1st laid eyes on this sweet kitty when she was brought in as a stray cat to be TNR'd. Dr. Ballotti was alerted to the condition of this poor girl, who (we were told) had been the mother to MANY litters of kittens. While the shy feline was sitting quietly in her cat trap, Dr. Ballotti looked closely and said,"This girl is in a lot of pain." A quick phone call was made to the kind soul who had watched her from afar for so long- the SoCO team was then given the honor of being the proud new protectors of a little soul!
Over the next few weeks, surgery to remove her damaged eye was performed. She was also spayed, vaccinated, given appropriate preventative parasite control, microchipped, and, luckily, tested NEGATIVE for FIV/FeLV/heartworm. You know what else was lucky about this girl? She quickly went from frightened, injured feral to very sweet and loving! We named her Meringue I mean, look at that gorgeous coat! Doesn't she look like a beautiful, fluffy, sweet piece of lemon meringue pie?
Hang on, the story gets better.....
One of SoCO's weekly volunteers, Tara, had been quietly watching Meringue's progress. Each week, after she finished her tasks, she would spend quite some time loving and talking gently to Meringue. Finally, Tara approached: "Do you think Meringue is ready for adoption? I'd love to take her home!"
A few days later, Tara and her husband showed up with cat carrier in hand! Sweet Meringue FINALLY has a family of her own!
Many thanks to her former caretaker for allowing us to take custody of Meringue, and special thanks goes to Dr. Ballotti and the team at SoCO for accepting this girl, offering the needed medical care, love, and daily support she deserves!
How's that for a sweet, happy ending?
Congratulations to Meringue and her new family!
