Great advice from our friends at Gerrish Township Fire/EMS

National Pet Preparedness Month
Is your emergency plan pet-ready?
Your pets count on you when disaster strikes; whether it’s a house fire, heatwave, storm, or evacuation. A little preparation can make all the difference. Here’s how to keep your furry family members safe:
- Keep leashes and carriers near exits for quick escapes
- Practice your emergency plan with your pets so they know the routine
- Use window clings to let first responders know pets are inside
- Assign a “pet buddy” in your household to grab them in an emergency
-Pack a pet go-bag with food, meds, water, and comfort items
-Never leave pets in vehicles during hot weather—even a few minutes can be deadly
-Make a plan for evacuations that includes pet-friendly shelters or hotels
Have a story about rescuing a pet during a disaster? We’d love to hear it! You can even show us a picture of your fur baby ... share below!
