Sometimes, the size of the dog DOES matter.
Amos is a bit too tall to comfortably do peekaboo with me.
Whisper is at a perfect height to learn and do it.
Maybe Amos and I will stick to shake and other tricks.

During this video, I had lost my voice due to a nasty cold. But Amos and whisper have both been taught verbal and visual cues for a lot of basic behaviors. This is a good example of why it is beneficial to have at least two different types of cues for basic behaviors. Ex. I couldn't speak, so I couldn't give a verbal cue.

Matchmaker, matchmaker, find them a match! These two are still looking for homes.
Amos, the white with black spots gentleman, is such an absolute sweetheart. He loves to wrestle and enjoys being a lap dog (Just don't tell him that he is too big to be one) he is a huge cuddler and will happily love you for all time, especially if you got some food for him. His soulful eyes will suck you in as you can simply tell that you are his whole world.
Whisper, the lovely lady in all black, is a perfect companion for an active family. In a past life, she was a gazelle, obviously since she loves running. But once she becomes a part of your family, she will be by your side through thick and thin. She loves giving kisses and will always welcome you with a happy tail.

Part 2
Whisper, miss speedy, enjoys moving through her training super quick. I often have to race her to make sure she doesn't get bored. I posted this video to demonstrate how different these two dogs like to train. Yes, they are of different breeds and origins, but they are a good example.

I've heard people say how their new dog is so different from their old dog! Their new dog is such a troublemaker, but their old dog was never this bad!

I've seen dogs that were in the same litter and have completely different personalities. I've seen dogs that had everything the exact same, from breed to age to food, be completely different. There may be some similarities, but overall, they are a different dog. It's the same thing as how family may have children that are different from each other. They may share some attitudes and behaviors, but they are different.

Part 1
Amos, the meandering big guy, likes to take his time during training. It doesn't matter what treats I have. He likes to move slowly, but he loves to learn.

Whisper is really nailing her "leave it"!!
Whisper is available to adopt at the South Utah Valley Animal shelter. She is a super sweet pup who loves learning and cuddling. She is playful and energetic. She would definitely thrive in an active family!
"Leave it" is a cue that can be given when you drop food on the floor, or there is something on a walk that pulls your dog's interest, or even when your dog starts to focus on a distraction! "Leave it" is a very handy tool to have in dog training because it helps your dog understand that whatever it is, it is off limits, but in we start with making it only temporarily off limits.
