🔥 Hot Pavement = Hot Paws! 🐾☀️

Did you know that on a 90°F day, pavement can reach up to 140°F? That’s hot enough to burn your dog’s paw pads in just 60 seconds! 😱 With a 100°F day, pavement can reach up to 160°F. That can burn your dog's paw pads in 30 seconds.

Here’s how to protect those precious paws this summer:
🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when surfaces are cooler
🐾 Stick to grassy or shaded paths
🐾 Use the 5-second test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them!
🐾 Consider dog booties or paw balm for extra protection

Make sure they have plenty of water and a cool shaded spot during the day.

We highly recommend keeping pets indoors if possible.

Let’s keep our pups safe and comfy all summer long! 💛🐶

☀️🐶🔥
Just like us, our pups need protection from the sun—especially those with short or light-colored fur, pink noses, or exposed skin.

Here’s how to help prevent sunburn:
🧴 Use pet-safe sunscreen
🌳 Provide plenty of shade
⏰ Avoid peak sun hours (10am–4pm)
👕 Try a doggy sun shirt for extra coverage

Keep them safe while they soak up the summer fun! 🐾💛

🐍 Snake Bite Season is Here — Are You Prepared? 🐾
Copperhead bites are common in Central NC, especially during warm months. If your dog is bitten:
⚠️ Stay calm
🚗 Get to the vet immediately
🧊 Skip the ice, tourniquets, or home remedies
💉 Antivenom & quick treatment save lives

Keep pets leashed on trails, avoid tall grass, and know the signs of a bite. ⏱️ Early action = better outcomes!

Can you spot the copperhead in the photo?
