Training Tip Monday: expose your horse to the outside world!

Sounds simple enough, right? Take your horses places, take them out on trails, bring them to new places and do different things with your horses. Your horse doesn't have to be "good" at everything, but the more you do with your horses, the more they have to put their trust in you. The theory is, that when you take your horse some place new or a new environment, they lose at least 50% of their training from when they are at home. Until your horse is used to traveling and having to look to you for guidance, your horse may struggle when being put into a different situation. Remember, they may do silly things and act like they don't know what your asking, but give them grace and take them with you anyways. Once your horse travels enough, they will get better and better about new situations and look to you for guidance. You have to put yourself out there for your horse.

If you would like more help with your horse, reach out to us. We would love to help you both build a great foundation to do the things you would love to do with your horse. Let us help you build that relationship!

Training Tip Monday: Desensitizing

Horses' instincts are flight or fight if they hear/see/smell something that could mean danger. They have one of the fastest reaction times of any land animal, which helps them escape danger in the wild.

We use desensitizing in training to help horses build trust in us that if they think danger is around, don't worry, we will protect them. This mare pictured here is Kola. She is a fabulous mare, very willing and good minded. The way we helped her the most when we had her in training back in 2021 was desensitizing. It is so important to balance your horses mind. Desensitizing also helps your horse relax and builds their trust with you. When a horse is relaxed, they are much safer and more enjoyable to be around!

CONGRATS TO HIS NEW FAMILY!

☆☆Your next trail horse☆☆

Chevy is a 4 year old BLM mustang. He is 14.1 hh and still growing. Chevy is ready to have his next trail partner in his journey. He has done everything from parades, 4-H shows, participated in easy drill practices, playdays, but his FAVORITE thing to do is trail rides!

Chevy's story:
He was captured and gentled in the Kitty Lawman Mustang program where 4-H kids get a wild horse, gentle them, and bring them to in hand classes at the 4-H show in June. He has belonged to a young lady his whole life. He has had over 60 days professional training now. The ONLY reason for his sale is because the owner would like to do barrel racing and rodeo, and Chevy would prefer to be a trail horse.

Reach out to us because this great little c**t won't last long! His price is in the comments. Delivery can be available for an additional charge.

Training tip Monday

Does your horse know how to sidepass/come over to you when you get above their eye? It's a fun trick that we teach our horses, and it's very handy for many people. There is a process to it, but this video is kind of fun! Kole, our 9 year old son, is showing how this exercise works. He has never done this before, and he is using one of my favorite training horses, 3 year old Jasmine. She knows that even though he is still learning the cue, she understands that she needs to come over to make it easier for Kole to get on.

If you want to learn more tips and trick on how we can help you with your horse, please reach out to us on this page, call or text us 541-788-1543.
