Meet Star - our 2026 roan filly. This girl really is a miracle as no one expected her to make it. Our ranch crew work 24 hours around the clock on rotating shifts for weeks giving her the care she needed to make a full recovery.

Because of their dedication, Star is here today and has been given a clean bill of health.

Today, we celebrate the remarkable career of Smart Lois "Jim."

Every great horse reaches the day when he has earned the right to simply be a horse. Today, that day belongs to Jim.

After an incredible 16-year NRHA career, we've made the decision to officially retire Jim from competition.

Few horses have the opportunity to enjoy a long, successful career and retire with their health, dignity, and the admiration of so many. Jim is one of the fortunate ones.

Throughout his career, Jim accomplished more than we could have ever imagined:

🏆 NRHA Lifetime Earnings: $32,020.05

🏆 Ranked #42 All-Time NRHA Money Earner by the legendary Smart Chic Olena

🏆 Competed at many of reining's premier events, including the NRHA Futurity, NRHA Derby, National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC), and the All American Quarter Horse Congress, along with numerous affiliate championships, futurities, derbies, and maturities.

🏆 Successfully shown by professionals, non-pros, and amateur riders throughout his remarkable career.

While we're incredibly proud of everything Jim accomplished in the show pen, that isn't what we'll remember most.

We'll remember his heart, his honesty, and his willingness to give everything he had, every single time. He helped shape riders, created memories, and represented everything we admire in a great horse.

Jim has earned every day of the retirement that lies ahead, and we're grateful to have been part of his journey.

Congratulations on an incredible career, Jim.

Glad to have Berggren Performance Horses in Princeton, KY!!

Berggren Performance Horses is excited to announce our move to the 888 Ranch in Princeton, KY!

We are incredibly grateful to the Owens family for the opportunity to work out of their beautiful facility. This move marks an exciting new chapter filled with growth, opportunity, expansion, and continued progress for our program.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Zimmerman family for the opportunities and support they have provided over the past year as we launched our business. Additionally, we are extremely thankful to Bobby Avila for his friendship, guidance, and continued support.
