Meet the newest PCC club members, Tianna and Tyson, both Boxers from the same home. They're extremely friendly and playful with me, but unfortunately, seem to have trouble integrating with the rest of our pack, so I keep them separate for now. Tyson especially, seems unable to control his need to assert his authority especially with larger dogs. It took him a couple of days to be able to be in the same vicinity with Tucker. Now, he tolerates Tucker's proximity, but before, he would immediately place his body on top of Tucker's, snap and growl very aggressively until I told him NO! Smaller dogs they seem to ignore, but I take no chances and keep them separated until I'm 100% convinced they're acclimated and we'll socialized. I was told they were and perhaps they are at home, but this is a completely new environment for them which may be increasing their need to assert themselves even more out of fear or concern.
This is also a new experience for me because it's the first time that I've come across Boxers that actually act as they were bred to. Almost all the Boxers that have come through here have been incredibly loveable, playful goofballs with strange and often hysterical behaviors. These 2 are very serious and are only playful with me in the kennel. I'm hoping that will change over time and will work on it. It's a lot more work having to rotate dogs so everyone gets time to play and socialize openly. It's like running separate kennels, so if I can successfully get them acclimated and integrated, life will be easier.
