We poured our heart and souls into all the pups but this one required a lot of extra care to survive...The only female of our litter went to an amazing home today❤️. Born at 4.5 ounces, she was a fighter from the beginning. She would burrow under the boys to stay warm and find a teat, which happened to be almost bigger than her mouth, that they overlooked. I slept next to mom to make sure she didn't lay on her and was also up every few hours to supplement her and weigh her for 1-2 weeks.
At 2 weeks we treated her the same as the boys, but at 4 weeks/start of weaning, she took a turn for the worst and almost died. She was 2.3 pounds, while the boys were probably 8-10, and it turned out that severe constipation/dehydration from not reaching a teat (mom stood to nurse them) made her incredibly sick so she was separated from the boys and once again placed back on mom after I provided 5 days of intense, round the clock, medical management. From then on she was separated from the boys for sleeping and feeding.
Play time with all the big boys turned her into a sassy little number. Have fun with your new big brother and new mom, Runt Runt McGrunt (Adams nic name for her) aka Lee (Briars nic name)❤️
