The GRINCH came for a lesson recently. LOL.

She crept to the stable with a grumble and groan,
“The saddle’s too creaky. The reins are overthrown.”
But up on the horse—oh, what fun occurred!
The world felt less gray, and her sneer slightly blurred.

The wind whooshed her worries right out of her head,
As hooves drummed a rhythm the grouch hadn’t read.
“Preposterous!” she muttered. “Absurd! And yet—hmm…”
The corners of her scowl did a treacherous shimmy.

They trotted through the arena with a clip-clop-ka-zam,
Past fences and friends and the scent of fresh yams.
And though she would never admit it outright,
She felt—dare we say it?—a spark of delight.

GETTING CREATIVE...We like for our horses to have free choice hay. When we can’t keep up with their square bale needs we get creative! My husband is quite amazing with his skills on equipment and was able to lower a round bale into the stall.

ICYMI -- CHECK OUT THIS *HANDS ON* OPPORTUNITY 👀👀👀Learn First Aid for Horses and Humans! This winter we will be hosting educational equine clinics once a month. The first one will be about first aid for both horses and humans!

The cost is greatly reduced to become certified in first aid and CPR for humans.
This portion will be first, before lunch, and then after lunch Katherine Beth Ludewig will be joining us via zoom to teach us about equine first aid. Katherine is a wealth of knowledge and certified in equine first aid. This is an excellent opportunity to join other horse people and learn so much!

Selena Jenkins and Aid Township Fire Department will be teaching the first aid and CPR.

Vania Carr will be providing lunch, so come join us on January 10th!

Cute-ness alert. Kara and I (Jess) have been working with Dixie. She is learning to come when called. She's got some other skills too, LOL. We'll post more vids of her next week showing off her talents. If you haven't "followed" our page already, you definitely should.

Horse Adventures

Here at JLR Farm we love every minute of being at the barn, from grooming, stall cleaning, and definitely riding! Some of our favorite adventures are trail riding (Yatesville Lake, Greenbo, Shawnee, and Carter Caves to name a few), riding in the arena at home, playing games on horseback, and attending local shows.

Some of our goals for this year are to enter a couple of minis in a parade or two to gear up for the All Horse Christmas Parade in Lebanon Ohio. Sassy and McKinley hope to find a rider who shares their love of adventure with an on the farm lease. Blackie is enjoying his new lease and is excited to go to his favorite trail riding place, Yatesville Lake! Lyle and Olivia will be getting ready to show next year at the Boyd County Fair and Elle hopes to get back under saddle this year so she can join in the fun as well.
