WHAT ARE WE LEARNING IN THE ONE-ON-ONE CONDITIONING AND FITNESS CLASS? WANT TO KNOW MORE CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW.
Basic Exercises- Step one
One of the most important things to consider is that we must teach the basics to get to the advanced level for behaviors, exercises or within your given sport. Poor form on an exercise, on jumping, heeling, standing for conformation, or even out runs for herding only create bad habits and adaptation of the body in a way that we do not want to promote. When thinking about muscle memory for exercises, this likely will end in weakness of muscles that we are trying to work and ultimately increase the chance of injury down the road.
From our Science section and the “why” we do a conditioning program discussion:
“Slow, precise movements allow for strengthening of the weaker muscles and at the same time allows the body to sense what muscles are engaged when performing a particular movement thus improving the neuromuscular reaction. Over time this helps the body to recognize what muscles are needed for certain activities quickly and efficiently thus decreasing reaction times and improving speed, as well as minimizing injuries. The more motion in an exercise the harder it is for the nervous system to recognize a wrong move and correct it. The body will continue to default to the stronger muscles and ignore the weak ones resulting in more imbalance. Slow and precise with proper form is the key!”

In all things training, slowing the processes down to focus on the small parts allows us to put the pieces together, so in the end we will have a complete picture. Your pup does not have to be an athlete or sporting dog to benefit from training and exercises. These types of activities help to form a strong bond between us and our 4-legged companion while building a healthy future regardless of age or breed. To our valued clients:

The health and safety of our employees and our clients is of utmost importance to us as we all prepare for the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our area. We know your pets are an important part of your support system during times like these. We, in turn, will continue to provide them with first quality care. We want to play our part in helping to minimize the exposure and spread of this virus in our community, so we are following the CDC guidelines closely. Here are some specific measures we are taking and protocols we are implementing:

- We will be practicing social distancing and be a handshake-free zone.
- We are asking any staff experiencing respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, and shortness of breath) and/or a temperature above 100.4 F to stay home from work.
- Every staff member must wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Our cleaning protocol frequency has been increased and includes any surface in our hospital that is touched often, such as the restrooms, exam rooms, reception area, phones, computer keyboards, countertops, doorknobs, chairs and credit card machines.
- If you are feeling under the weather, we will now be offering curbside pick-up for your pet's appointment. Please call upon arrival and a staff member will retrieve your pet from your car.
- If you prefer not to be in a public space or you are experiencing respiratory symptoms, we can utilize Google Duo for Telehealth. Please call for more details.

Many pet parents are concerned about the spread of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, and how to protect their families and their pets. The good news is that at this time, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) say there is no evidence that companion animals, including pets, can spread COVID-19. Nor is there currently any evidence that we can transmit the virus to them. However, as information about this virus is still developing, there are precautions you should take to protect your family and pets, including:

- WASH YOUR HANDS – use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and especially after coughing, sneezing, contact with others or with animals. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
- If you have any symptoms of respiratory illness, stay home and restrict your contact with your companion animals
- Those infected with COVID-19 should avoid contact with animals, including petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked, and sharing food.
- Know the symptoms – they are similar to influenza fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

We are actively monitoring developments related to animals and the virus, and you can find the latest updated information about COVID-19 as it relates to pets on the AVMA’s coronavirus page. You are also welcome to give us a call at (928) 636-4421 with your questions at Circle L Animal Hospital.

We thank you for your understanding during this situation, we will do our best to keep our clients updated on how COVID-19 is affecting Circle L Animal Hospital and our clients.

One of the hardest parts for me as a veterinarian, in these times, is to not be able to give a hug, shake someone's hand, or place hand on their shoulder for comfort! To all my clients out there please know I would, and I am hugging you if appropriate, shaking your hand in greeting, placing a hand on your shoulder for comfort! We are practicing social distance for the safety of you, me and my team. Please know we care and will be here if you need us!
