We rescued Coco, the cutest little chocolate lab, from the Humane Society in Yuma when we receive a call about her. We were on the road the next morning when Coco arrived I knew immediately something was wrong in the back end. We did a lot of investigating that ended up with a CT scan and found that she had a softball size mass in her vaginal area. We never really questioned whether to do the surgery or not because we already had her for a couple of weeks and knew that she had a lot more life to live. Coco had been a 100% outdoor dog living in Yuma Arizona through the 120° Summers and the cold winters, and she’s a small little lab. She is a typical Velcro dog that wants to be right next to you, touching you and getting constant attention all the time. That’s hard to do at a sanctuary full of dogs, so we found an amazing adopter that we were able to place her with as soon as her surgery was complete so that she could recover in a nice quiet home with her new family. Cathy, a long time friend and Volunteer at Dogtree, and her husband have been waiting for years and years for just the right dog that would fit in their home with their very finicky cat Mia. Turns out, Coco was that dog. Coco has completely recovered from her surgery is loving all the attention in her new home and even gets rowdy and plays, not with the cat yet though . That may take a little more time I believe the whole family is going on their first camping trip in their RV this week so I can’t wait to hear the details. Happy life Coco!!!
