Should Guinea Pigs have Bell Peppers daily? The simple answer is YES of course!! 😊😊

Remember Guinea Pig's bodies cannot store vitamin C like us humans can, so it is VERY IMPORTANT to give bell peppers daily along with other fruits and veggies that contain vitamins as well.

I have always personally given my piggies an assortment of reds, yellows, and oranges because they are higher in Vitamin C. It also gives a good variety between bitterness and sweetness incase you have a picky eater (which I have never encountered a piggie refusing a bell pepper based off bitterness).

It was a sad ending to our weekend. My sweet pet piggie Henry sadly passed away tonight in his cozy spot. My heart is sad as he was my last male piggie from my heard over the course of 6 years. We weren't sure exactly how old he was but I hope he was happy with me through out these last couple years of being rescued. I love and miss you baby boy. 🥺

Sunny went to a loving new home with a wonderful family and friend! Now he gets to enjoy a whole new life with a wonderful family and we get to see him occasionally as well! Sunny was probably one of our sweetest pigs who wasn't shy and always gave kisses and loved napping. He couldn't have went to a better home. 🥰

Second Chance Cavies is currently selling some used cages to try to earn some money for our piggies.

* Note these cages are not suitable for two guinea pigs. And only some are suitable for one guinea pig. These cages are to mainly be used as traveling cages or cages to take your piggie camping with you for the weekend or any vacation. They can also be used for babies that have not yet reached full size.

Info will be listed in pictures. Prices are marked to sell so that second chance cavies can continue to spoil these sweet potatoes.

🥵🥵 Just a reminder in Michigan that Temps are going to he extremely hot over the next few days! 🥵🥵

💥 Guinea Pigs do not have sweat glands like humans, therefore cannot sweat to cool off their body Temps! This makes guinea pigs at high risk for heat strokes and there have already been many cases posted this past week. 💥

💫 Guinea pigs do best in Temps between 65° - 75°. 💫

¿? How can you keep your piggie cool on hot days ?¿

❄️ Give your piggie fresh cold water every few hours to keep their body Temps down.
❄️ Frozen Water Bottles in socks is a great and easy way to keep your piggies cool and many owners use this tactic!
❄️ keep a fan or AC unit going on your piggies at all times to keep air circulating
❄️ Fresh cool veggies (once a day) will help keep your piggies hydrated and cool!

☀️🔥 if your piggies are outside during this heat wave, please take precautions and bring your guinea pigs inside if you have not done so already! Again guinea pigs are prone to heat strokes and it will become a fatal situation rapidly! 🔥☀️

We had some great news today at the vet! Last week I found a lump on our guinea pig Sunny, well today we found out it was just a harmless little cyst that shouldn't need to be removed unless we notice growth or agitation. No cancer cells were found! 😊 We are so happy that our little Sunny is okay, but we still might plan for removal in the future!
