The National Weather Service has predicted severe storms rolling in that are expected to last into the weekend. Animals can sense the changes in the bariatric pressure long before we can and they may start to act differently because of it. Rain, thunder, and lightning can be frightening for many pets, and they need our help to feel (and be) safe and secure. Now is the time to create a quiet, cozy spot with their favorite toys, blanket or bed. Soft music (or even the TV) can help drown out the noise and keep them calm. Be sure your pet is wearing a collar with identification, even while indoors, in case they get startled and run out, and check that their microchip information is up to date so you can be easily reunited should that happen. Please, never leave your pets outside during bad weatherโ€”the safest place for them is with you. Our pets are family, and they deserve to feel safe and loved.
