Effective immediately Yavapai County is transitioning from the Everbridge platform to the new Smart911 / RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System.⚠️

This system delivers urgent public safety information quickly and reliably, including wildfire evacuations, severe weather alerts, missing persons, road closures, and other life-safety emergencies.🚨

The American Red Cross Central Arizona Chapter is preparing for more rain across the Valley and reminding everyone: the best way to stay safe during a flood is to prepare before it happens. ✅

Before a Flood:

💧 Know your risk — check if your home is in a flood-prone area.
💧 Make an emergency kit with water, food, flashlights, and medications.
💧 Have an evacuation plan and know your routes.
💧 Move valuables, important documents, and electronics to higher ground.

The National Weather Service has predicted severe storms rolling in that are expected to last into the weekend. Animals can sense the changes in the bariatric pressure long before we can and they may start to act differently because of it. Rain, thunder, and lightning can be frightening for many pets, and they need our help to feel (and be) safe and secure. Now is the time to create a quiet, cozy spot with their favorite toys, blanket or bed. Soft music (or even the TV) can help drown out the noise and keep them calm. Be sure your pet is wearing a collar with identification, even while indoors, in case they get startled and run out, and check that their microchip information is up to date so you can be easily reunited should that happen. Please, never leave your pets outside during bad weather—the safest place for them is with you. Our pets are family, and they deserve to feel safe and loved.

We will be closely monitoring the incoming storm and its potential impacts, including flooding. As always, we hope the impacts will not be as severe as predicted. We hope for the best but prepare for the worst and encourage all residents of Yavapai County to do the same. Should sheltering become necessary, we are ready.
