Wimpys Megapint, affectionately known as “OJ,” is a 2024 sorrel filly who has spent the past 90 days in our program. Registered with both AQHA and ARHA, OJ combines an exceptional mind, versatility, athletic ability, and proven performance bloodlines into one incredibly exciting young mare.
OJ is sired by Wimpys Chicken Chic, a son of the legendary Wimpys Little Step (LTE: $185,757; progeny earnings over $13 million). On the bottom side, she is out of a daughter of Megastar Kid (LTE: $22,587) and a granddaughter of Brennas Kid (LTE: $115,574; progeny earnings: $747,235).
From the moment OJ entered our program, she has simply been easy. She certainly doesn’t fit the stereotypical fiery red mare reputation! She is affectionate, willing, level-headed, and genuinely enjoyable to have around.
Don’t let her age fool you. In just 90 days under saddle, OJ has experienced more than many horses see in years. She has been hauled to numerous different environments and remains the same horse both at home and away.
OJ has already competed at ARHA-sanctioned shows and is showing tremendous promise as a Ranch Versatility prospect, with the ability to continue developing in the reining as well. She has also shown natural interest and ability around cattle. With additional time and training, we believe she could be competitive in ranch cutting, boxing, and other ranch events.
This filly has three soft, comfortable gaits, a great reliable stop, an easy turnaround, and one of the softest walk-to-lope departures you could ask for. She has fluid body control with easy hip and shoulder ins and outs. She is soft and willing in the bridle and very responsive to both seat and voice cues.
And OJ isn’t just an arena horse.
She has extensive real-world exposure for a filly her age. Point her at an obstacle and she’ll confidently walk over it. She has dragged logs, barrels, cattle, and more. Rugged terrain? No problem. OJ is sure-footed, confident, and willing. She moves cattle with ease and has been roped off of with the confidence of a horse far beyond her age and experience.
On the ground, OJ loads, leads, hard ties, cross ties, bathes, and stands quietly for the farrier and veterinarian.
OJ is currently shod on all four feet with baby sliders behind. She does not require shoes or any additional maintenance to remain sound and comfortable.
