Powder River Sheepherders Fair The Powder River Sheepherders Fair is held each year on the 4th weekend of June in the town of Powder River WY.

On June 26 & 27, 2010 you will be able to see the skills of sheep hooking, roping, ewe doctoring, sheep dog trials and kids events

I know we have had various questions about future fair dates.. but due to insider trading- we were unaware of certain sell outs..... I do think it went to a reputable stock dog group but haven't heard any of their plans for 2019. I believe there will be dog trial, but non of the other events- which is too bad!! (No wonder the fair didn't continue when the board couldn't produce a fair from lack of help/workers- does it surprise anyone when all members involved couldn't meet & vote on sale/ transition of the grounds!!!) Sorry to have to post this, but it is all news to this pages admin!

TODAY IN WYOMING HISTORY: In 1915, Arminto Wyoming incorporated. Arminto was a major sheep shipping point in the 20th Century. At one point, more sheep were shipped from the stockyards than any other place in the world.

Attention** Sheepherders & Dog handlers~ We regret to inform everyone that there will NOT be a fair in June! We are having trouble finding sheep- So we can't do much w/out sheep!
We would like to Thank everyone who has donated, sponsored & attended the fair- You have made it a great 27 years!

The 27th Annual Powder River Shepherders Fair was a sucess! It was a great weekend! Thank you to everyone for coming out & playing/ competing. (there will be new pics up soon!)

Well the fair is days away! And we are ready for a great fun filled, exciting weekend! Hope to see everyone there! We will post pics after the fair.

The count down is on..... Hope all the sheep dogs & all of the "sheep ropers" are ready to show off their skills. Show up Sat & Sun to enter all of our exciting events. Don't forget if you don't want to compete & Hook a sheep or get your hands wooly you can also participate in the Calcutta (99% of the events will be bid on at calcutta/ auction. Hope to see you all there at 9 am both days.

If you want to work a dog or 2 at the Fair- Call or email to enter up! The dog events (trial dogs, ranch dogs & Novice dog {9 months & under}) are fillling up fast!
