When these children arrived at Fosterlings on May 19, paw-parazzi took their intake pictures, code names were assigned, but they were still very frightened, it was late at night, and we didn't want to stress them further. They have now had a bit of time to decompress, we have begun sitting with them and gently handling them and I thought it was time to show new pictures and tell you their names.
I am delighted to introduce the Vegetable Litter: Miss Bean, Miss Potato, Miss Squash, and Mr. Tomato (check the photo captions for who's who). They are 7 weeks old siblings from Stowe who were living under a deck. Feral momma is very young and very skinny. She was beginning to push them away and with temperatures soaring well into the 90s I thought it prudent to bring in the babies and get them out of the heat.
Don't worry about Momma. She will be trapped and has an appointment for spay, and we did leave one baby in her care that a neighbor has decided to keep after mom is trapped. Caring for five was becoming too much for her. Caregivers are providing daily food and water, a sheltered place, and care for her and her weaned baby.
Today is a big day for the Veggies, they will finally get their baths, flea and tick treatment, deworming and microchips. A vet appointment will be set for them for testing, and next week they will be old enough to start vaccinations! And, as usual, the Mommy-Lady will be spending lots of time with them, giving treats, talking with them, singing lullabies, and cleaning up after them as they discover the importance of proper potty box usage.
Oh ... it looks like all these kittens have an abundance of fluff ... they may be medium hair.
