Hound pup Wallie and one of "his" chickens. he used to Kidnap them and carry them off , not hurting them , but they are pretty wise to that now , and its harder to sneak up on them

Miss ya buddy. Your time here also was not long enough , hunt on my friend...

Making the trip here tonight soon to lay this special soul to rest. Some of you will remember how Old Man "Moonshine" came in here a year or so back, and was So named because he had been dumped in the " Night Drop" at a high desert shelter. He had been sick, but recovered , and has been pretty much enjoying some retirement. Tonight , about a half hour after supper , he suffered a heart attack. I heard him Bawl, as he often did with defiance at having to get his creaky frame up to go p*e, I found him off his couch, but landed on a cushion, and was with him through his last breaths, He fought to the end, In keeping with the true Warrior he was, his many scars showing the battles he fought long ago. I can Only hope he can now have the peace and Comfort that was denied to him through his life. R.I.P Friend, I am Honored to have known you

Still relocating them... To another realm...

And when you think things are Bad enough.... Heard The Hounds, Libby Mainly, Causing a Row and went over to see Them acting like Satan Himself was in the yard. Pretty Close, They had this Bastard who was Rattling , coiled and ready, bayed up NEXT TO THE BARN! I had just been about to do evening watering, and would have likely stumbled over it, So Libby , Night Train, and Shadow Likely Saved my life. I Whacked him a good one with a shovel, (About a 4 footer) and tossed him aside, when I went back to dispose of him , the Damn thing came back to life! (BRIEFLY) the Irony of it is Not lost on me, S**t, things you wish would never die, Do, and those you WANT dead, wont do it soon enough!

Congrats to Charger, he has been here 3 years now! Boy is he a pain in the ass!

And heres "Charger" He has arrived from PA and was shipped here because he was out of options. A rescue group had him and bravely did not give up on him, they paid to board him, but he has "Issues" and I suspect they are training and cage related ( I call crates cages because thats what they ARE) He came Very close to re arranging my face when I went to put him in the Van. Two other hounds were reactive the same way, that were sent here, Joe and Milo. Both HATED Cages or Kennels. Some dogs and very often Hounds, simply cannot tolerate confinement, and that just usually gets them more of it, if not killed. We are working on some understanding of each other. Hopefully we can work this out.

My girl... Always...

Lottie is Gone, she just passed I was holding her. All I have left is fleeting memories and shredded hopes, and this picture of when she first got here just over a year ago with her tattered squeaky ball toy. I Was sure then that she was safe, but I was wrong. Her heart just could not recover from the ravages of heartworms and ericthlia from her sad ordeal of being housed in a hog trap in Mississippi. She has seen the Vet since early this year with pnuemonia , and I really wish the heart problem had been caught then.. I feel responsible for her having TWO spays and an "Accidental pregnancy when the first spay was not completed right, I wish I had never agreed to have her shipped with what I did not realize was an un neutered hound, from Tenn. I should have secured Solo transport , as she never seemed to recover after the second Spay. Her pup that remains here "Wallie" has been checking on his mom, confused, he just left wagging his tail , after sniffing her he dont yet realize she is gone. Im still in Shock myself even though I saw it coming. Im hoping she has some fleeting Memories to take with her of freedom and the few happy times she dashed up the hill with the rest to go hunting . Im Hoping she is now leading or running with some ghostly pack , Somewhere With the cool grass under her feet and warm scents tickling her nose

I just can't tell you how much I miss her , Lottie was only here a year and a half , before heart problems likely caused by years with heartworms, took her, but she will be forever in my ❤️

Tillie still raising hell, after all the years and mileage she has put on

Recovered C**n Hound "Tillie" Showing what she had been spending her time out the past few days doing, TRACKING! the Hounds with a major Hunting Drive are usually the ones that end up here. and Tillie has that drive. The wear on her nose is from keeping it to the ground trailing scents. any Sane person would ask , why take them out at all with all the risk? But in reality, that is the ONLY way to Maintain these Hard Hunters. You just have to Manage the risk. C**ndogs are the Third most Euathanized type of dog In the U.S. Tillies Previous Hobbies included stalking small dogs as "prey" fighting with kennelmates, Re modeling Homes without a Permit, Baying non stop for Hours, and Literally "Climbing the walls" her teeth show Much wear from chewing on a Kennel, and she resisted Humans to avoid going "Back" to confinement. Hounds are "Working " dogs And Many Need to Work!
