🐾🌫️ Wildfire Smoke Doesn’t Just Affect People, It Affects Pets Too. 🌫️🐾
With smoky skies affecting our area, it’s important to remember that our pets can be impacted by poor air quality just as much as we are. Dogs and cats can experience eye irritation, coughing, difficulty breathing, and other respiratory issues when exposed to smoke.
Here are a few simple ways to help keep your furry family members safe:
🏠 Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
🚶 Limit walks and strenuous outdoor exercise.
💧 Make sure fresh water is always available.
🌬️ Keep indoor air as clean as possible by closing windows and using air conditioning or an air purifier if available.
❤️ Pay extra attention to puppies, kittens, senior pets, flat-faced breeds, and pets with heart or lung conditions.
⚠️ Watch for signs such as:
• Coughing or gagging
• Rapid or difficult breathing
• Excessive panting
• Red or watery eyes
• Lethargy or weakness
If your pet is having trouble breathing or seems distressed, please contact your veterinarian right away.
