Miss Miso is such a gorgeous and loving girl. 💓

She makes all of us at HSAR melt with her expressive eyes that seem to say, "please love me!". She's extremely friendly and adores meeting new people and other dogs her size to play with. Miso is excitable and energetic and would be so happy to accompany you on daily walks/hikes/runs. She is very, very cuddly and affectionate and we could see her settling into a home space well after getting her exercise in. She is interested in all kinds of toys and will take any kind of treat (very gently, might we add!). Miso bunny hops about the play yard in a show of celebration for her freedom to run and have fun.
Overall, Miso is going to be such a great addition to a family, especially if you already have another dog her size for her to play with!

Other Dogs: Great with other large sized dogs, loves to play!
Cats: No cats
Kids: Not tested with children but presumed to do well. May be jumpy but can learn not to jump up and express her love/excitement in that way

This handsome, loving guy is super social and affectionate 🥰🥰

Arthur has a silly and friendly personality that pairs well with other dogs and human friends. He is interested in all kinds of toys and takes any kind of treat gently. Arthur would love to join you at home for some play/active time then settle in for cuddles. He loves water!

Andie is our small town sweetheart 💓

This little angel was found as a stray with her brother and momma in Quincy and then surrendered to the shelter. She might've grown up on the wrong side of the tracks but she's ready for a life of love and adventure. Andie enjoys all kinds of toys, treats, and cuddles and we think she will effortlessly complete a family.

Weight: 21 pounds, likely on the small/medium size fully grown

Ha! A new babe to love for the rest of time!

Loyal, full of personality, and a little bit goofy, Duckie is the type to dance his way into your life and stay there forever. He's got some underdog charm, the kind that doesn't beg for attention, but earns your love by just being unapologetically himself. He was so sweet during his bath time the other day and snuggled up for love afterward. He's ready to slide into your life and offer up a bit of tenderness to his new family. Duckie loves toys, treats, cuddling, and running-- just like his sister Andie!
Last photo shows duckie with his adoptable sister Andie and their mom who was adopted at Plumas county animal services-- extremely gentle nature and loving mom with all beings.

High Sierra Animal Rescue is looking for a Kennel Technician to care for our rescues and boarders! The hours are 32 a week, with the possibility of more hours being on-call. The days currently open would be Thursday-Sunday. Compensation is $16.50 an hour.

Job Description:
Our Kennel Technicians are directly responsible for the day-to-day welfare and care of animals residing and/or boarding at High Sierra Animal Rescue. They are asked daily to maintain a healthy, clean, safe, and pleasant environment for all of our animals at the shelter through daily cleanings, feedings, and outdoor rotations. Our humane efforts to rescue these dogs start with the hard work of the kennel technicians.

Specific Duties
- Follow established procedures to clean and disinfect all kennels daily
- Maintain clean exercise yards and rotate dogs through multiple times daily
- Provide proper food, water, and medicine where prescribed for our animals
- Observe and report behavioral and/or health issues
- Launder dog beds, towels, and blankets
- Provide baths on rotations for our animals
- Assist in maintaining general shelter cleanliness
- Assist in inventorying and stocking of dog and/or cleaning supplies
- Greet and meet incoming boarding dogs and their owners
- Perform other duties as assigned, like training our dogs with our training method

Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and ability to work quickly
- Attention to detail
- Affection and care for our animals and their welfare
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances
- Ability to walk dogs on leash up to and over 100 pounds, sometimes needing to restrain

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Work Location: In person. Ability to commute to Portola, CA.
