💰 Every bottle and can = 10¢ for Cats in the City Rescue.
💧 Stay hydrated this summer—then help the cats by donating your empties!
📍 Drop off at either Cats in the City grooming location during business hours.

We're collecting all redeemable bottles and cans at our Powell and Beaverton Grooming locations—and we've already raised $13 since May 10th! That’s 130 bottles and cans! Let’s hit our next goal of $20 and keep the momentum going!

Before we officially became a rescue, people would often ask, “Do you ever adopt out cats?” The answer used to be no—we primarily served Portland kitties who already had homes. Surrendered cats were rare.
Then came Benny just after New Years.
A young Himalayan with a big personality and a history of bouncing between homes, Benny had earned a bit of a reputation. He wasn’t keen on new people, and tended to be very nervous going into new situations. When we took him in, we worried he might have a hard time finding a new home.
He proved us wrong! Benny turned out to be the catalyst that pushed us to officially expand our mission into the world of cat rescue. We decided to give him everything we had—and it worked. 💪
With our multistep approach, we:�🐾 Conducted multiple behavioral assessments including watching his behaviors towards other cats and meeting new people�🐾 Committed to daily socialization�🐾 Desensitized him to a daily grooming routine�
Benny didn’t just improve—he blossomed. Benny found his confidence, not only enjoying the opportunity to meet new people, but thriving as a newly minted social butterfly. He was playful, loving, and confident! Benny captured the hearts of everyone who met him, and after a few weeks, we found his forever home.

This is what rescue means to us. Not just saving lives—but changing them.

🌟 Fill it with cans and bottles (plastic, metal, or glass) and drop it off at any BottleDrop center across Oregon.

Gracie has truly made herself part of the family here at Cats in the City Rescue while she patiently waits for her forever home.

Her favorite pastime? Strutting her stuff on the front catio and greeting every visitor like the queen she is. She's especially fond of early mornings — the sun, the breeze, the promise of breakfast — it's her time to shine! 🐾✨

Though she’s loving the routines and attention, what Gracie really wants is a home to call her own. 💛

Whiskey is a 3-year-old, healthy Domestic Long Hair with a heart as warm as his fluffy coat! He’s neutered, up to date on his rabies and FRCP vaccines, and ready to ride off into the sunset with the right family.
Whiskey is a sweet, gentle soul who loves people and lives for cuddles. He’s a pro at making biscuits and is always happy to curl up next to you for some quality relaxation time. His favorite hangout is the catio, where he enjoys watching the world go by, as long as someone is there with him.
Whiskey will do best in a calm home — no dogs or little kiddos, please — but he's lived peacefully with other cats before. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion to share your days and your couch, Whiskey just might be your purrfect match.

Meet Gracie – Our sweet, snuggly tuxedo looking to wiggle her way into your heart!
Gracie is a 9-year-old spayed female tuxedo cat who’s ready to find her forever home. When she first arrived at Cats in the City Rescue, she was very shy and unsure of her surroundings —but with patience, gentle care, and plenty of love, she’s blossomed into one of the sweetest, most affectionate companions we’ve ever had the joy of knowing.
These days, Gracie fills her time with a few of her favorite hobbies: birdwatching from a sunny catio perch, chirping little songs when she’s ready for attention (which is often), and her absolute favorite—curling up in a warm lap for snuggles. She’s a charming, calming presence who will happily keep you company!
Gracie is up-to-date on all vaccinations and recently received a clean bill of health from our vet. She’s currently on a prescription urinary diet to support her long-term health and takes daily anti-anxiety medication to help ease the stress of transitioning into her new home.
While she has lived with other cats before, Gracie would prefer to be the queen of her castle—at least at first. She’ll do best in a home without dogs or young children, where she can soak up all the peace and affection she desires.
We lovingly describe her as having “big Grandma energy”—gentle, affectionate, and always up for a cozy cuddle. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal feline companion to share your space (and your heart), Gracie just might be your girl.
