We’re so excited to welcome our newest veterinarian to the Bethany Family Pet Clinic team: 🩺🐾Dr. Katherine Weitzel!👏🏻🤩
Dr. Weitzel grew up in Kent, WA and attended Washington State for undergraduate degree in Biology (with a minor in Fine Arts!), and then went on to graduate from WSU’s veterinary college in 2010. She has practiced in Colorado, Washington, and Oregon, and comes to us already Fear Free certified! She loves preventive medicine, and helping clients and their pets have positive experiences during their time with us.
“I was able to experience mixed animal medicine (small and large animals) and small animal intensive care during vet school, and decided that small animal general practice was what I enjoyed most,” she shares. “I love helping pet parents find ways to improve their pets' lives and keep them as healthy and happy as possible in ways that are practical in each unique situation!” On joining Bethany: “I am looking forward to working with Bethany Family Pet Clinic's friendly, collaborative team to serve our community. I love that this team has such a range of interests and experience levels working together to provide a wide variety of care options.”
She married her “best friend” and husband, J.D., during vet school. They have 3 active girls, one chatty cat named Ember, 2 fish tanks, some mason bees🐝, and occasional foster kitties. In her spare time, she enjoys being active in her kids' school and activities (Balancing soccer, Scouts, and is PTO president!), getting out hiking, camping and exploring in the PNW's beautiful outdoors, cooking and eating all kinds of foods, and singing in her fun local Swiss choir. When you schedule your first visit with her, be sure to ask her about providing veterinary care for an owl, fennec fox and kinkajou, and holding a grizzly bear cub 👀
