It’s about to HEAT UP this weekend in Portland! 🥵We’ve got a few water safety tips if you decide to take your pups with you to find a place to splash around:

🌊If you head to the coast, be sure to not let your furry friend indulge in drinking sea water. The salt can cause GI upset, and sand ingestion can cause impactions

🐟If you head to the river, watch out for your dog finding dead fish. Salmon Poisoning can be fatal, and is a common bacteria in freshwater fish

❄️Even though the air is hot, waters may still be cold as ice melt runs off our amazing mountains. Monitor closely when swimming.

🛶 Life jackets aren’t just for people! Your dog can tire easily if they aren’t used to swimming, and a personal flotation device is never a bad idea (as modeled by Piper here)

💧It may be early in the season, but check for any toxic green algae warnings before swimming in lakes or ponds

💨When in doubt, leave them in the AC!

Bethany Family Pet Clinic hosted a staff BBQ last weekend, complete with our very own “Bethanee Awards” (for all you Office fans out there!) 🏆 The awards were for our support staff, thoughtfully put together by Drs Harris and Lough with input from some of our other amazing docs. Bethany Family Pet Clinic in Portland, OR, is a full service companion animal hospital. We opened our doors in August of 1998 in the Bethany Village Center to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical, dental, and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.
