Hip Hip Hooray! Here's hoping we all have the opportunity to enjoy a quiet and safe 4th this year! NoPo Paws will be closed on the 4th of July and we do still recommend having calming products on hand *just in case* so hit us up this week for some CBD, Thundershirts or Composure treats.

Portland fire officials Tuesday issued an immediate ban on all fireworks in the city but indicated they are unlikely to enforce the sweeping prohibition.

I received my 2 months ago. I may possibly have burst into tears on my way to the clinic just thinking of how much it meant to me to take that step both for myself and for my community. I have spoken to so many of you these past two months and you have all shared how much your vaccine meant to you. It meant you could hug. It meant you could see your parents/grandkids. It meant we could look forward to a normal life once again. My heart is full knowing the vast majority of our community hasn't hesitated to do their part in ending this pandemic. Thank you.

Your favorite neighborhood pet shop is hiring! I'm looking for a passionate pet lover to work the shop 3-5 days/week. Yes - that means either part-time or full-time, depending on the schedule and needs of the right fit.

What qualifications does the perfect person have?
- Warm and Personable with superior customer service skills: We treat our customers like our friends and family
- Dependable: Because our team is small (just 3 of us!), you must have a proven history of being dependable and punctual in your previous positions.
- Inquisitive Problem Solver with an interest in pet nutrition and behavior: This is not your average retail position. Mastering proficiency in product knowledge and providing the practical advice NoPo Paws is known for requires a keen mind and ability to learn quickly.
- Able to repetitively lift 30 lbs: You won't need a gym membership!
- If interested in part-time, you must be flexible with your schedule, able to take on extra hours to give this business owner time off occasionally and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must have received the COVID vaccine (you can be one shot in to apply).

Hurley Badger here to say TGIF! Also, in news that will surprise absolutely no one, regardless of what the CDC said yesterday, NoPo Paws will still be requiring all customers to be masked when they enter the store. There has been zero guidance for the retail and service industries, no vaccine verification system put in place, and our case count here in Oregon is still historically high for us. So continue to mask up and hopefully we'll get to a point very soon where we can see the entirety of your beautiful faces inside. In the meantime, enjoy this gorgeous weekend!

Hey friends! We got amazing news and not so fantastic news. Hurley's surgery successfully removed his cancer with sufficient margins that we can celebrate our dude being cancer-free! Woot!!

Bad news is that his surgical incisions are having a tough time healing up properly so he's headed to the ER this morning for evaluation and I will need to close down the shop at some point later today to pick him up. It's the ER so I can't for sure estimate time but will likely be mid to late afternoon. If I miss your visit this afternoon, feel free to order online for pickup this evening or tomorrow morning. I'll let you know as soon as I'm back and your order is ready for pickup. Thanks for your understanding! As a thanks, here's a photo of the handsomest dawg in the whole wide world.

Dear NoPo Fam - Due to a family emergency, we'll have slightly altered hours this week, closing up shop from 12-2pm Mon-Wed and cancelling deliveries for this week. We'll remain open normal hours otherwise.

Please send all your healing vibes to my sister-in-law Kassie, who is fighting for her life right now.

A huge thanks to Emma for holding down the fort as always and to Karen for coming back on board last minute to help me out this week.

For everyone who has already kept us in their thoughts and sent us those amazing healing vibes, I did want to relay some good news. Hdawg's cancer has responded extremely well to treatment and we are scheduled for surgical removal of his tumor Saturday.

We remain hopeful that we'll go 2 for 2 on the miracle front!

I made it in, we have power and sidewalk is shoveled so we are open! It is impossible to park out front of the shop and really anywhere on Killingsworth or any of the side streets so if you need supplies today, it's best to plan on walking.

So I was going to post a funny story about how we were open for a few hours this morning because I needed kale and if I was going to drive half-way to the shop to go get kale, then I should just go all the way and be open for a few hours and it would have been the most PDX thing I've ever done. But then I got stuck pulling out of my parking spot in front of my house so nah....we closed today. Hope to see you all tomorrow!

This is H-dawg and MoMa, who enjoyed her very first snowstorm as I imagine many Pyrs do....hunkering down to accumulate as many snow balls on her long white fur as possible. Good girl, MoMa.
