Cats In The City

Cats In The City A team of cat advocates helping cats and their people live their best lives.

Our purpose is to be the greatest little cat care center your family cat will ever know. We achieve this by providing outstanding care to cats while their people tend to other matters. We like to think of ourselves as your cat’s built-in support system: when you can’t be there, We Can!

Getting to know Persimmons and her gentle personality has been wonderful. Watching her gain confidence and come out of her shell reminds us daily of our purpose, helping rescue kitties feel safe as they adjust to the next steps towards their forever home. Being able to watch her take these amazing steps forward has been extremely rewarding.
While Persimmons waits of her purrfect forever home she spends her days in the sun while receiving all the love and attention from the team! Persimmons is a very gentle and healthy 4 year old Scottish fold.
Persimmons is looking for:
• A calm, predictable home
• A family willing to let her adjust at her own pace
• A home where she can be the only pet
• No dogs, other cats, or children under 10

There comes a point in many cats’ lives when the goal is no longer perfection.

The goal is comfort.

For senior cats, hospice cats, and cats facing terminal illness, grooming can become something much deeper than appearance. It can be relief from coat burden. Cleanliness when self-care becomes difficult. Softness when being held matters more than ever. A moment of dignity, comfort, and connection during a family’s final chapter together.

The Last Gift® was created for those moments.

This specialized TANDEM Cat® grooming service focuses on gentle, dignity-first care for cats whose needs have changed with age, illness, weakness, or declining mobility. Every touch is intentional. Every decision is guided by comfort. Every cat is treated with patience, respect, and compassion.

Sometimes the most meaningful care is not about adding more time.

It’s about making the time that remains a little softer.

💜 Because every cat deserves to feel good in their skin.

Most people think cats mat because they “don’t groom themselves enough.”

The reality is often much more complex.

Matting is frequently a symptom, not the cause.

As cats age, develop arthritis, gain weight, lose mobility, experience pain, struggle with chronic disease, or simply become less able to maintain their coat, small areas of trapped undercoat begin to accumulate. Over time, those areas compress, tighten, and eventually fuse into mats.

At Cats in the City, we believe understanding why cats mat is just as important as removing the mat itself.

That’s why we created Why Cats Mat®, a TANDEM Cat® educational framework designed to help guardians understand the relationship between coat condition, mobility, comfort, behavior, and quality of life.

If you’ve ever wondered why a previously well-groomed cat suddenly develops mats, this article is for you.

Because the question isn’t always:

“Why isn’t my cat grooming?”

Sometimes the better question is:

“What has changed that makes grooming harder?”
